'But if you tax the billionaires they'll leave!!'

Good! Fuck 'em! If we're not taxing them then what exactly is the benefit of having billionaires living in our state or country anyway??

If they’re not paying taxes, what are they bringing to the state anyway?

Today's brain expanding realisation is 'you don't have to prove something is AI slop to not want to engage with it', which really cuts to the actual issue, right? The reason you don't want to engage with AI slop is because it's not worth your time, not so much that it's not worth your time because it's AI slop. Like you can look at some bad writing with all the signs of AI slop and whether or not it actually is slop, that it's bad writing is enough of a reason to put it down and go somewhere else

Like, "if the AI-generated thing is good, is that worth engaging with" is an entirely different question that gets into the ethics of it. "Is it ethical to use AI to generate art" is a different question

When the question is "This is so bad, was it made by an AI?" you have your answer of whether or not you should spend any more time on it. The answer to the question asked doesn't matter at that point

Oz had her bloodwork appointment yesterday, at the vet office she had her ultrasound at last month, and with a vet who apparently can't be bothered to check a cat's gender on their chart (kept calling her 'he' until I corrected her yesterday and just now on the phone it was back to 'he', 'him', 'Mr. Oz'). This is an attention to detail that does not instil confidence in me

Anyway though per the call I just got about the results, they're looking good. The kidney values had spiked quite a bit after the first methimazole adjustment and now they're back to about where they were before that, I think. Apparently she's a little anemic and her white blood cell count is a little high, and her thyroid levels may need adjusting again. But I'll wait to hear what Dr. Les thinks about all of it

Finally got last week's homework done, due at midnight tonight. It was just a 'read these articles/watch these videos, then write a short essay on what you learned from them' sort of thing but I Really struggled to pad it out to the minimum word count. It also wanted me to write part of it as a list, which annoys me because it cuts out my ability to 'I learned x, which has significance y' elaboration. But it's done, and hopefully things will get easier as the class actually kicks off? Probably easier in some ways and harder in others -- I just don't have very much to say about 'how did you do on the practice quiz and what did you learn from it'
