What are you working on?

I spent a big chunk of my working time today getting a single passage of Identity to work correctly and be timed right.

Then I thought I'd lost all of it.

Thankfully, Twine just saved it in a weird place, so I was able to locate it without any loss, but was still thrilling and annoying.

This is the current bit I've been working on. Last part before the finale of Memory Loop 1 part 1. Taking longer than I thought it would, but also getting more accomplished, so.

I've been working a /lot/ on Identity lately, because it feels good in my brain and is just fun. I've made a lot of really good progress! I've learned a bunch of new tricks, and been able to streamline quite a bit!

I also had someone play through some of it, and they had a pretty strong negative reaction, to the point of having some dissociation triggered. Which. I feel really, really bad about, because I didn't consider that might happen. They just didn't enjoy the way it played, and it made them feel actively upset. Which sucks.

But at the same time, they also had exactly the experience I wanted the game to produce-- they were confused, and frustrated, and felt like they were answering questions with no right answer. They said that it reminded them of unmedicated days (ADHD in this case), which, yeah, that's kind of the drive.

It got me to realize that that's kind of something I am for in my non TTRPG games? That feeling of spiraling closer to the truth while still being confused and off balance.

I'm having a lot of insecurity now that maybe it is /too/ frustrating. I need to get someone else to mess with it, and tell me what they think.

I do want to go change the questions that are asked in the "test" portion, and put those answers places they can be found. I don't want to use image alt text for it like I had before. So I need to think about what I want the questions to accomplish, and how/if they change things. I do know I want the reaction from the nurse to be minimal, because it really is meant to be questions that she's using to evaluate where someone's at (sort of, there's more to it than that), but I can do that better now that I'm more grounded in where the game's going.

Thinking about it, I'm going to leave those questions till the end, and use them to tie into the four memory loop paths. The answer to one will be in each loop. I'll think about how that effects the playthrough later, but that's good to keep in mind!

Still feeling a little insecure about the game, but hell. It /is/ making people feel the way I was hoping it would.

I, of course, am knitting on something at any given moment (as seen in the Small Joy section) but this is these are the latest things (yes, i tend to have at least 3 projects going at a time.. ahhh, ADHD)

First! I finished this years Xmas gifts super fast 'cause that's just the way brioche rolls (off the knitting needle ;D)

And then I started noodling around in Barbara Walker's amazing stitch pattern books and stumbled across a mosaic knitting pattern that i was all "Hmmm, I'm thinking Christmas Trees" and so it became so:

And having worked out that particular pattern (with help, i am not a pattern designer >.>), I wanted moorrre.. 'cause mosaic knitting is the easiest color work out there & i'm the laziest knitter ever so ipso facto & all that. As it turned out, the tester swatch I made when working out the pattern was long enough & folded neatly in the middle, that i crocheted up the sides and presto! A potholder! So i decided to deliberately make a potholder this time & used a pattern based on Grecian Fretwork & here's the beginning of that!

I /love/ fiber craft so much.

I used to crochet, but my hands can’t take it anymore, and I was never actually very good at it, just enjoyed the meditative nature of the thing. But I /love/ seeing talented/skilled peoples’ work!

The last especially, I love that kind of style, that my brain thinks of as Greek-art-deco.

Would love to see more.

I am currently up to my neck in script writing for season three of my space western anthology. I'm /fairly/ burnt out on script writing in general, so I'm trying to be aware of that and limit how many projects related to it I take on. I don't /think/ I'm going to be taking on any more of those till space western and/or Arcadia wrap as shows entirely.

(This probably won't actually happen, I can say with near certainty I will pick up other things I want to write for. But that's the /intention/ so I'll at least think hard about adding stuff.)

I felt really guilty last weekend for not working on scripts, but I didn't have the energy to write, so that meant I ended up not doing /anything/. Which was irritating.

This weekend, I want to work on Identity. I'm at a bit of a stuck point, so I think I am going to see if I can enlist @mek to help me do some plotting. I haven't made him look at the image map/quiz section yet, so I will likely try to do that.
