Jumped in the pool for a few minutes and did some laps -- I am very out of practice

Aside from jumping in the pool, I also did some more concepting with ash (I would like to continue to work on that presently but it is, very hot, outside, and inside,), watered some plants (including the aloe, which gets a monthly water), and resituated the crowfeeder so it's raised off the ground and also more stable. I think that would make them feel safer eating from it? Dunno! We'll see!

Also my new headphones (to replace the ones the cat chewed through) arrived and I've been testing them. They are bluetooth but not entirely wireless, because there's a wire connecting the two ear pieces, but hopefully I can remember to keep them away from the cat and prevent her from ruining them. They are working pretty well, and a bonus benefit that I hadn't thought of is that they work with the steamdeck, so I can switch to headphones while that's connected to the TV, without having to commit to only having audio come out of the TV's headphones. The quality seems about par with the previous headphones, so Good Enough, which is good enough

I'm going to go turn my brain off and try to endure the heat, ttfn

On top of all the nonsense going on with twitter, it's also broken all of my twitter-based RSS feeds, so that's awesome. Can't wait to find out if that was intentional, if it's because of the rate limiting/required-log-in-ness, or because twitter is just so broken right now that nothing can reliably communicate with it

Sigh

It's the weekend, so not a lot done today! Went shopping, watched M3gan with ash, going to bed early so I can go to church tomorrow

The garage-to-house door here has a tendency to slam shut, which is problematic for people like me who grew up in houses where slamming doors was a Thing, so we've installed a pneumatic door-closer that forces it to close more slowly! It was a little bit of a pain in the ass and took up much of my afternoon, but it's worth it

Church today was interesting -- the AC was broken in the sanctuary, so service was held in the welcoming center (the front hall, basically). People submitted questions for the reverend to answer, which ranged from 'what's your favourite color' to 'how do we as individuals work to make our congregation more racially inclusive' to 'what's the meaning of life', so all in all a pretty interesting morning

Tonight, ash and I watched a youtube video about The Lion King and Jewishness, which was really interesting, and then we watched Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, which remains just a really solid and underrated movie

The video is here: -- about jewish-coding Timon (and the meerkats in general); unfortunate themes in the Lion King franchise; and how to engage in thoughtful media analysis

A bluejay found my crowfeeder!

The local grocery store very occasionally has a buy-two-get-three-free sale on soda, which is an unbelievably good deal and so when it happens I like to stock up. They did it this weekend for 4th of July, so I went Saturday, Sunday, and today, and now have a Lot of soda -- though today they didn't have my soda of choice, so I also have a variety of other options to go through. Sor is visiting soon and might appreciate having choices, or they might not care, but either way

With luck and self-control I won't run out of this stock before the next B2G3F sale

I need to pill the cat, and then I think I'll stare at a word document for a while
