Speaking of alt text, other people should be able to contribute alt text, with OP being able to approve of and close submissions on the image. Youtube had this one right (if poorly implemented) with community written captions, before google threw the whole thing out instead of fixing its issues

So when Oz's vet appointment got scheduled last month, there was some kind of issue in their scheduling system that meant that I got an incorrect confirmation for August 22nd at 9:30 AM, instead of September 22nd. That got cleared up at the time, but I hadn't realised that 9:30 was also wrong, not just the date, so I wrote that down in my schedule and have been thinking it was right this entire time. So, when the vet's office called yesterday to confirm the appointment for 8:00 AM, I was confused and said I thought it was for 9:30, and there was some back-and-forth while the person on the line tried to figure out what time the appointment was for and whether it could be moved to (what I thought was) the original time of 9:30. To make matters more confusing, ash had originally been told it was at 7:30, when he made the appointment
Long story short, it's at 8, so I need be up early enough to leave at 7:20 to get there (this is actually probably not true, but traffic on the way there is so inconsistent that it could be, and so it is safer to assume that traffic will be bad and arrive early than that it won't and arrive late). I went to bed at 10:30, and have woken up after about four hours, and now I'm figuring I'll just stay up and take a nap later.
They didn't tell me that Oz needed to be fasting, but they're ultrasounding her stomach so I'm assuming she does. So her dinner got put away also around 10:30
Fired Plate Up! up again the other day, to work on the conveyor-based restaurant. I found a mod that lets you import custom floorplan designs, so I've been messing with that a little, honestly both times to re-get a floorplan that I'd lost, but there's definitely potential to make some interesting designs later. I got a medium-sized restaurant as good as I could, then franchised it and am now working on a bigger plan. I really wish there were a way to have a pass-through-able conveyor tile, because it's really limiting having to account for the customers having to be able to get into the restaurant and to their tables
Might go doze some more, or might go zone out to something, now.
One feature I really wish youtube had is the ability to make it recommend videos of a specific length. 'I've got ten minutes to kill, filter my recommendations to that'

I needed to go up to another part of the city today to pick Oz up from the vet, and I'd planned to swing by the library first, but it turns out that by the time I got there I'd have to turn right back around and head out, so instead I've gotten to the vet early. Just hanging out in the plaza waiting for 5

@Harena She's been having some appetite issues that we can't find a diagnosis yet. Just had an ultrasound today that didn't find anything, so the search continues. She's healthy and active aside from that, though!

Up a little late because I've been trying to upgrade my mastodon server all day, and have come to the conclusion that I just am not allowed to because my server isn't fancy enough, and I'm not paying twice as much a month for it to make it fancier, so I'm staying on the 4.1.x releases. I am on the most recent of that, though, so.
Today was reptile show! ash got tiny bugs for his frog container (to-be), we looked at a lot of herps. You may recall that we went to the reptile show about four months ago, also, and it was in fact the exact same reptile show, in that it was in the same location with the same vendors and exhibits, set up in pretty much the exact same way, which was extremely weird. I have no idea why.
It was crowded and loud and it's always a little bit sad because you'll see some animals that aren't being kept in great conditions -- I always hate to see chameleons and there's always chameleons, you'll always see some seller or another who isn't taking care of their animals, you'll see people being careless and reckless with more dangerous animals (there was a snapping turtle in an open tub with nothing but a sign warning people not to stick their hands in there; people are just, real god damn casual about alligators apparently). But! It was fun despite all that, you do see some pretty babies in good conditions, there's always neat merch. It also always rekindles my eternal desire to own all the lizards and snakes.
We wandered around the expo for about an hour and then went home.
Okay, I really do need to go to bed -- tomorrow ash and I get our vaccines, and we want to do some errands, so I need to be up in time to do that and then make the appointment. Also I'm very low spoons and very tired

I'm very tired! I'm going to bed in a minute here, as soon as I eat a bit more. Today was itself not super involved, it's just that yesterday and the day before obviously were so I'm needing to catch up on some rest. I did also need to wake up at a reasonable time to do the vaccine stuff, which did happen and in two weeks I will be all topped up on COVID and flu defences
We've been experimenting with letting Cael roam with Ivy neither vested nor leashed (both of these things bring her energy levels down a bit, to say nothing of making it a bit easier to stop her if she decides to invade a cat's personal space too much). It went middling, we're going to step back to precautions and work more on Ivy's manners and getting Cael to leave a situation if he's feeling threatened rather than defending himself. We also talked about logistics around keeping him out of the office and away from the other cats' food, and we're at the moment deciding to not bother, so instead keeping the office cleaner and just kind of, keeping an eye on Cael's eating and making sure he's not gaining too much weight. But we're going to wait a little bit to actually open things up to him
I did get some proper running around play with the kitten time, and I hope we can continue having some time with Ivy locked outside so I can keep doing that. I'm very sad that I never really got that with Oz after the first apartment
Speaking of Oz, she is doing okay -- both after vet visit and with the kitten. As for vet, they shaved her stomach and she looks kind of ridiculous. As for kitten, she's doing what she can to stake her own space and routine in spite of him, but she's still not wholly comfortable in my room and that, too, makes me sad. The kitten has redoubled attempts to pounce Oz, so in addition to negative reinforcement when he does, I'm also going to start positive stimulus, redirecting him to a different toy and trying to wear him out more. I don't think the people who had him before played with him at all? So he doesn't think of humans as being potential playmates and focuses entirely on other cats. I've been trying to learn how to play with him, and to get him to learn how to play with me, and it's slow going -- he's possessive of his toys and thinks if I try to play with him with one of them that I'm trying to take it away from him, and he doesn't come to me to engage in play very much. I did try getting him to play tag when we had run-around-the-house time, and I think he started to get it a little, and he also play-stance-d at me an hour or so ago. In some ways it would have been better to adopt an adult cat, but I really think trying to introduce an adult cat to Oz would have gone even worse. All the same, things will hopefully be going smoother by the time the boy is old enough to calm down a bit
I wish I knew where my laser pointer(s) were, because that might be a good option for him. I should get more wand options and see how he does with those, too. And some automated toys that will get and keep his attention without me having to get up and throw something for him
Okay, eating more food, getting more sleep. Tomorrow is cat maintenance day so I need to clean all their bowls and litter boxes, and I suspect my arms will be sore so I should try to be extra rested.
The flu shot always gives me flu-like symptoms, so I've historically just not taken it and relied on herd immunity, but it turns out that's not a viable strategy these days!
I am freezing and shivery, and too warm, and all my joints hurt, and all my muscles are sore, and the injection sites hurt like hell, and I have a headache. I've let Caelus out of the bathroom until breakfast and then I'm afraid I'm going to take a nap.
Will probably just throw fresh litter on top of the litter boxes and hope I'm in a state to scoop them tomorrow.
