Seeing a lot of complaints about Patreon's new logo right now, and they're right, but not a lot of people talking about the much more egregious switch away from showing posts in chronological order

Also the new font for the site is very hard to read, but like, I can change that if I want to

One of those videos of someone playing music on found objects with the camera panning around them but near the end it pans over to the boombox that's actually playing the song

The real twist is that neither the person nor the radio were playing the music, but that it was dubbed in in post

So the selection of toys I already owned were not great for Cael -- there are a few that he'll play with, but for the most part they won't keep his attention for more than a few minutes, and none of them he really wants to play with someone with. So with my money for this month, I got a few new toys that I am hopeful he will enjoy more! He is right now playing with a, uh, spinny ball tower toy, I also got a couple of wands, a crinkly tunnel, and -- what I'm most optimistic about -- a laser pointer. I also got a new kind of dental treat, a restock of the old treats, more litter, and a new food to try with him. The food is lucky because as of lunch today he's out of his old food. Hopefully his breath is less stinky on it, and his poops less plentiful.

He also has his first vet appointment tomorrow, in the afternoon. We'll get him all checked out and current on shots or whatever, and ideally schedule an appointment to get him fixed, also ideally in the near future. But before the appointment, ash and I are going to go to a couple stores in search of cheap Halloween decorations (and he in search of craft supplies). I really want to decorate this year -- it's been ages since I've been able to decorate for halloween and I'm hopeful that if we do so we'll actually get some trick-or-treaters. Unfortunately with new kitten budget is pretty tight, but I can surely get some fake cobwebs or something.

And then on Sunday we're going to go to the park with Ivy. Last weekend we took her to the river, I don't think I mentioned. It was very nice, we found a chunk of beach with no one on it, the weather was gorgeous, the river was cool but not cold, and not too high. Ivy did not care at all, but we'll try another time or two to see if she doesn't gain an opinion about it at some point. And it was nice for the people

I have gone back to not sleeping enough, so I should try to get to bed at a decent hour tonight. This morning, Oz made me feed her her breakfast by hand, but at least she did eat. I do worry about her

Anyway! I didn't have a soda today so I'm kind of getting a headache, so I'm going to chill for a while and then go to bed.

The laser pointer is a success and also Oz played with it a bit while Cael was gone

Busy day! First we did the errands -- craft store, "dollar" store, grocery store, and I did get a goodly number of halloween supplies which we're going to put up tomorrow. After that we ran Cael to the vet, and ended up about ten minutes late because the annual big park concert event was happening, as well as the usual construction that's always going on. But they did see us, thankfully, and I've got him signed up for a wellness plan and scheduled for a neutering and a second round of vaccines (not on the same day). The vet puts him at 5-6 months because he's lost his baby canines and apparently that's the age where that happens, and also he's already got both his testicles, so we need to get him fixed ASAP. He is not Unusually Large for his age, though, it turns out, just a bit of a big boy.

After that we hung out, watched things, had dinner, played video games. I am reading The Waste Lands (Dark Tower III) to ash and we're both really enjoying it -- I last read it in high school and remember it being my favourite of the series, and it's definitely holding up. And ash is playing through Deadly Premonition, so I'm watching him do that in the evenings.

But now it's getting a touch late, so I'm going to go chill. Tomorrow we're going to take the dog to the park and walk around, and then decorate, and then whatever

It's too soon to really say, but the new food does seem to be doing Cael better than the old food -- he's eating less of it (not, like, a concerning amount, down from 'wow that's a lot' to a more normal appetite), pooping less, and his poops are a more reasonable amount of stinky.

Today ash and I took Ivy to a nearby lake/park and walked partway around it -- so far that Ivy got too tired to keep going on the way back and had to be carried for a bit. It was a lot of sun, and we passed by some poison oak, but it was also fun and nice to be out and getting some exercise. We'll definitely be going back there, probably when it's cooled off a bit more. In addition to poison oak there were also geese and swans, and fish jumping out of the water to catch bugs. Also a couple-few groups of people out fishing.

When we got back we rested for a bit, and then started decorating for halloween! We got most of everything up, but want to get a few more things, and also have a bunch more fake cobwebs to hang. We also got some fake plants put up in one of the windows next to the front door, which we've been meaning to do for ages but just haven't gotten around to.

So a lot of physical effort, today, and we're both tired. There's another turn in the weather coming, with a bit of rain on the way, and I can feel that in my joints.

I read more Waste Lands to ash while he did some crafts and then made dinner, we ate dinner, we messed around with the porch light, we watched youtube videos, we went bedwards. I'm pretty tired again so I'm going to try to get to bed early, as soon as the cats are fed/pilled/treated, and in the meantime it is yet more chilling in front of yet more screens.

Cat maintenance day! Cleaned litter boxes, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned water bowls. I've also swapped Cael's and Oz's food bowls because I think Cael's more saucer-y bowl might be easier for Oz to eat out of than her more bowl-y bowl. Results are so far inconclusive but we'll see

I also did some reading this morning, more of Mouse and His Child; I've decided to finally get around to reading The Stand but I want to finish what I'm in the middle of, first, so.

I have a spiritual practice that I'm going to get back in to, sort of, so I did some small preparations for that and did some dice reading about it

Many of the animals have been pains today; Ivy has been chasing and harassing the cats, Cael has been harassing Oz, I do not have the energy to deal with any of that. I've also been pre-migraine all day, which is annoying and hopefully passes without an actual migraine appearing. It's probably the weather, we've been not-quite-actually-raining also all day -- tomorrow is supposed to just be overcast and then sunny again on Wednesday. I have some things I need to pick up at the store, so I'm going to try to go a-wandering tomorrow

Anyway! Going to go rest me head and take things easy. I did not quite succeed in going to sleep at a reasonable time last night, though I did in going to bed, so just going to have to try again tonight.

Took the train to a local grocery store today, which honestly took about the same time it takes me to walk to the chain store down the street
