Honestly. Honestly? Honestly. I actually really like my laptop's keyboard. It's one of my favourite features of it, it's nicely clacky and responsive, it honestly doesn't feel like a membrane keyboard. There's a springiness to the keys that makes it really nice to type on
It just has two problems: 1) when my nails get longer they have an annoying tendency to slip under the keys of flat keyboards and try to pop the keys off; and 2) this computer is many years old by now and the keyboard is starting to go. A couple of the keys are less responsive and the backspace key is actively threatening to fall off. And since it's a laptop keyboard, and a membrane keyboard, there's nothing I can do about it breaking. I mean, technically I could take the entire laptop apart and put in an entire brand new keyboard, but let's be real here, I would come out of that project without a laptop, and this laptop is my main computer.
None of this to do with my prior wireless keyboard, which was cheap garbage. Muted keys that just sound like your standard rattly plastic, mushy membrane, spotty connection, and the left shift barely worked, which is a problem when typing in passwords or case-sensitive commands (I refuse to get used to using right-shift). Which, I mean, to be fair to it it also is years old at this point and served me perfectly well up until a few years ago. It deserves to retire
Ugh, I've been starting to get a migraine for most of the evening and now it seems like it's going to turn into an actual full-blown migraine
Oh my god it has a right-click key
It's been so long since I had a right-click key, I forgot how much I missed it
what dis
This key opens menus as though you'd just right-clicked your mouse. It's super useful when you have a workflow that doesn't involve taking your hands off the keyboard very much, which I used to but since using a laptop 99% of the time it hasn't really mattered
The rose by the pool, that came with the house, has been infected with rose rust (a fungus), so today I spent about an hour trimming all the affected leaves and then I jumped in the shower to make sure I didn't accidentally spread it myself. The Joseph's Coat also has black spot again so I also trimmed it, but aside from those, everyone is doing great. ash is buying a fungicide to help prevent the rust spread and I'm also going to check it daily for a while to make sure I got everything (I definitely didn't, you could see spores coming off the affect leaves while I tried my damnedest to carefully transfer them to a garbage bag, so I would be shocked if I didn't see more appearing in coming days)
I also cleaned the cats' water bowls, and Cael's food bowl
After showering I jumped onto the computer and spent a while trying to get the bluetooth working, and I finally did! So the new keyboard is paired up with it, the steamdeck is paired up with its second bluetooth mode, and I'll put my phone on the third
I should eat something, and then I'm going to just hang out until ash gets home. Dungeon Meshi today! Exciting

I just read a few studies on OTC-available vitamins/minerals being used successfully to treat ADHD symptoms. I've been privately bemoaning lately that ADHD medications aren't really an option for me (setting aside that I have other issues making it difficult to be me these past someodd years), so I'm intrigued. I know I'm supposed to be saving money (and I have been being very good about it and deserve a cookie that I won't have to pay for), but I went ahead and ordered some to try. Call that my discretionary funds for this month
I don't expect any miracles, but I am very curious
So I've been taking these supplements for about a month! Has it helped? Maybe! I dunno, I've been doing more things? I think the inertia is less of a problem? My mood's maybe been better? However, we are coming out of winter so it's possible that all of this is just seasonal! I do think I might notice it when I haven't taken them yet, but I take them in the morning so that could just be that I'm just waking up and don't want to have to do things.
But there are studies that found kids with ADHD were more likely to be deficient in: zinc, iron, vitamin C, B6 and B3, and magnesium; and that when they were supplemented with those, their symptoms improved. So I've been taking a calcium+magnesium+zinc+D3, a vitamin C, a B complex (I personally also often am low in B12), and occasionally an iron. I wanted to keep a close eye on the iron because I know that one is nasty to OD on, and I did show signs of getting too much, so.
There have been recent studies that niacin (B3) might be associated with heart problems, so I also want to keep an eye on that one. But I think all this is worth continuing for now
