Got a text at ~11 PM from an unfamiliar number that said 'Sorry about the late text, this is Stacey*, can I have your address?'

So, uh, called the number to make sure Stacey was who answered it

She wants to come over at some point, presumably to pick up the snowglobes I told her she could have, but can't schedule a when very far in advance because it needs to be a day she 'has the mental energy to do it', so at some point I suppose I will get a text telling me she can come by that day. It'll be nice to see her again, I think the last time I saw her was at her wedding. I wonder if they're still together? She seems to be living with her mom, now, or possibly just spends a lot of time there

I have had a mild migraine for most of the day and the clock on my computer somehow got set to the wrong time so I'm taking the bus that will get me there slightly late, but I am on my way to PT

Well! Either the train got me here faster than usual or I caught the train I was supposed to even though I was running late, because I'm on the right bus after all!

A few weeks ago my physical therapist recommended Severance to me, a show about people who 'go to their jobs and they go down the elevator to work and they don't remember anything about their life outside of work, and when they go home they don't remember what they did'. He doesn't watch a lot of TV, he mostly watches sports, but he said this was a show that had him up late seeing just one more episode because he had to find out what was going on.

'This sounds like something Lee would like', thought I

So tonight Lee and I started watching Severance. It is in fact good! Very interesting visuals, the story is good, it's doing the thing where it leads you to ask a question without knowing you're being led, and then answers that question for you. 'Wait, but why is it like this?' And then almost immediately you find out why.

Looking forward to watching more of it!

I was watching Game Grumps yesterday, and they've been playing a game called Growing My Grandpa. It looked interesting, so before I watched them finish it, I looked it up, and it was $5 so I went ahead and got it and then realised it was midnight and I should go to bed and not start playing a new game. So today I played it.

In it, a little girl attempts to follow a demonic ritual to bring her Grandpa back from the dead (and to make her parents stop being so "mean"). She doesn't know it's demonic, she just knows she found information in a basement about how to do this, and started doing it, and it's been working. But you "grow" Grandpa from a cronenberg-esque monstrosity by feeding it food you find around the basement, and teach it how to talk, and then eventually either fulfil the contract to get it to finish making your Grandpa and make your parents better, or you don't and get the "bad" ending. Throughout, you pick up documents talking about said Grandpa experimenting on this creature and the results they got from that. Very interesting game, very atmospheric, worth the $5, but only that. It's one I think could be expanded into a bigger, fuller game, as it is it has "game jam" vibes.

A couple weeks ago I missed torah study because I was unwell, and last week I missed it because I straight up forgot about it, but I want to go back tomorrow, so that means bed on time tonight. Then, also tomorrow, I want to do some gardening stuff. Plants could use fertilizer, and several of them could do with a trim.

No other plans so far, I don't think, maybe Lee and I can do something on Sunday

This was the subject of today's torah study:

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 wrote:

(4) Hear, O Israel! יהוה is our God, יהוה alone. (5) You shall love your God יהוה with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

A lot of discussion and disagreement -- spent an entire half an hour on one word, and only moved on because the rabbi cut that off (and then still came back to it throughout the remainder of the meeting). This is to be expected with a passage like this, I think

We've been led by student rabbis all the meetings I've been to before, this time we were led by the Or Rishon rabbi, which I think made people feel more comfortable with outright disagreeing -- I've mentioned, sort of, in previous meetings how things felt less like discussions and more like lessons. I don't know if it's the student/rabbi quality that makes the difference or if it's specifically Rabbi Rabishaw that people are responding to

I again struggled to stay focused through the whole thing, I need to figure out a way to get caffeinated that won't involve me drinking a soda on zoom at nine in the morning. If I can find my caffeine pills, that would work and probably be ideal, or I can try to make coffee happen that early

Going to read a few pages that the discussion led me to and then head out to do yard things

If you got me one with an auto timer on it that would work. Either way I need to actually get myself coffee before I can make coffee, though

Plants have been trimmed and fertilised and weeded. I've pulled all of the actual grass from my little area but I'm leaving everything else to do its own thing for now. We'll see what it turns into - probably a lot of trees I'll have to pull anyway, but a lot of it is just groundcover, which will be good
