I also grabbed a China Mieville book to try -- I keep meaning to read more of his books, and wanting some New Weird is a good excuse to dip into him again. Grabbed This Census-Taker, we'll see how I like it

China Mieville is my sworn enemy but I am super curious how you'll like his stuff/what you think of his stuff

I learned that you can make i-adjectives into adverbs by adding く to the end of them!

Oh!!! A while back when I was doing the jp.io flashcards, I got both 全 and 全く -- whole and wholly -- and couldn't keep them straight; I did a bunch of research trying to figure out what the actual difference was between them and ultimately just got 'one is an adverb' but still couldn't remember which was which. But now I know that く turns adjectives into adverbs I'll know that the adverb is the one with く at the end!

Nasty insomnia last night, combined with the cats being raucous. Ended up taking a melatonin and then still woke up after not enough sleep. Went back to sleep and woke up at like, three. Which is not ideal, but whatever

Went out to read more Sideshow to ash while he made dinner (feels like the plot proper is actually kicking off, which is exciting), and then came back into my room to work on my art for this week's prompt. I got that done just about when dinner was ready, so I uploaded it into the chat and went out to get food

We watched another Dead Boy Detectives and then played more 999 -- we have two endings to go, the 'mandatory to get the true ending' route, and then the true ending route (I am not making him sit through the 'it's the route for the true ending but the ending you get if you haven't done the mandatory route' ending)

I need to eat some more dinner, and I'm going to do that while watching youtube, and then I'm going to poke at that map some more. I have been forgetting to take my pills and I'm a little out of it the past couple days

I've only read Perdido Street Station before, and that was years ago back when you sent me a copy, so I'll let you know what I think after I'm a bit further into this one!

I've decided to start spending Monday as immersed in Japanese as I can manage, so Sunday night I set up a second profile on my computer and got another youtube account (and a niconico account) and then monday I, uh, did that! Mostly. I read some simple Japanese books and watched some videos and practised kanji, and then I spent some hours playing Hiragana Forbidden Speech, which is not quite immersing because it's mostly in English but it is teaching Japanese, so. And I talked to the cats in whatever Japanese I could remember

I was up late, this time not for insomnia but for video games, so I slept in today until 75 minutes before an arcadia recording, had breakfast, got ready to record, recorded, and then sat around reading the internet for a while. I'm gonna shave and take a shower here in a minute if I can muster up the energy to do so, and then video games until ash gets home. Then later tonight Dave and I will do some more mayonnaise adventures

I need to go to the store tomorrow if it's not too hot (and I have the energy). Cael's gone through the entire bag of the food ash let me have for him and he never started liking it, so I'm going to grab some meow mix for him to try.

Okay! I have shaved and cut my hair and showered, and then I did gardening and took my walk around the pool, and shortly after I finished, ash got home, but he's listening to a thing while he makes dinner so I'm back on the internet for a bit. I also cut some roses off one of my plants and put them in a cup of water in the kitchen -- it's nice that the roses are now growing so many blooms that I can do that and still have roses outside!

Have stardewed with Dave! We've hit a point where we accomplish pretty much anything we set out to do in a couple of in-game days -- 'What should we upgrade next?' 'Uhhhh we could get a bigger barn?' 'Alright well we already have all the materials for that, so... what should we upgrade after that?'

So today we upgraded a few things, including Dave's coop and my barn, and got a slime hutch, and we've got stuff set aside to put in the grange display, and we're working on bundles (mostly Dave is working on bundles, but I am bringing fish over to put in them too). Some of my trees finally grew up and I put tappers on them, now I'm just waiting for some syrup so I can make bee houses. I've also got some mushroom stumps and I've been taking care of the mushrooms in our cave

Yeah! Next week I'm gonna get a goat, Dave will probably get a duck, we're a little worried about having enough hay to last the winter but I mean, the worst that happens is our animals get a little sad until spring

Tomorrow a double feature of Dungeon Meshi (and Dungeon Meshi (we didn't watch it last week so we have two episodes waiting)) with Sor and then ideally some time hanging out with ash. And the store, as mentioned previously

I'm deciding if I'm going to be responsible and go to bed now or be irresponsible and stay up for a bit longer. Should probably go to sleep. I will let you know what happened, tomorrow

Oh yeah, this is huge for me --I've managed to have a flower or two in the little vase on my desk for the last few weeks and it's been an amazing low lift-bonus for my mood!

Yeah my relationship with China Mieville was really loving Perdido Street Station the first go round as a young teen, then I re-read it many years later and was a lot angrier at it, then I tried to read another of China Mieville's works (this one, specifically) and Could Not Even. I think I just lost my taste for his particular brand of writing and storytelling, but it may be more of a brand you like so yeah! Lemme know.

(also I know you didn't ask but out of concern for your sad winter animals, Marnie does sell hay all year 'round)
