You know the fish? I show it a tree. It wants to climb the tree but it doesn't have hands. It tries, it dies.

Example with an intransitive verb:
irisetne vhan kuu taisaln
swim.HUN-inside IMM.DEF.PAST 1SG OBJ-water
I swam in the water

With a transitive verb:
heki sul rhemin et tarhemin en
same.INAN HABIT tree this OBJ.tree that
This tree is usually the same as that tree

With clausal verbs:
ileta kuu
think.HUN 1SG
I think

You think I swam in the water?

I understand that this tree is usually the same as that tree

Also there's a grammatical error in these because "swim" is intransitive so you can't say "swim in the water" you have to say "in the water, swimming" or similar

Wild that you can make grammar mistakes on a language you yourself made up

Went to Daiso with ash yesterday! I picked up some gel pens and some snacks and took a bunch of pictures of broken/awkward English. Then we went to ash's preferred mongolian BBQ place and got dinner for the house. When we got home we watched Friday's Taskmaster and probably other things; the food was very good.

I just finished my Japanese homework for this week -- I still feel very underprepared but it wasn't that hard to do. I'm having a lot of trouble getting into the headspace to study, so when I do study it just feels like it's going in one ear and out the other. Class tomorrow, so I'll try to cram some before it again.

I started (once again) trying to make a teket font and I think it's going better this time than it has in the past, largely because I'm not trying to make it fancy, it'll just be a bog-standard sans serif font with even line weights and rounded corners. The plan will be to make a few different styles but I'll start with this one as a basic option. Right now though I'm eating more dinner and watching youtube, now that homework is done.

Truly people need to get more comfortable with being uncomfortable, I really think that's a huge fraction of modern societal problems

Class 3! It went! We have a quiz on Wednesday covering some chapter 11 stuff, which is not a chapter we're covering in this class but obviously it's still stuff we need to know. So half of class was just going over what the quizzes will entail and reviewing stuff from that chapter. Second half of class was more chapter 12, which we'll be finishing next week and getting started on chapter 13.

At some point near the beginning of class, Problem Student actually DMed me to say 'You look familiar, were you in my 402 class?' and when I said yes he was all 'Good to see you again! I'm sorry for my behaviour during that class, I was in a bad place emotionally' and like, I'll believe he's changed if I see it.

Then during break, a student tried to ask the professor some stuff but she basically started break and immediately left, so this student and Problem Student ended up talking for a while, during which time the first student shittalked the professor a little bit for leaving and Problem Student was like 'Well I've been studying Japanese for like a year or a little over, maybe I can help' and then later was like 'But the grammar is a big problem for me, don't listen to me about the grammar. The grammar is the only reason I'm taking this class' and like, the grammar is the language???

Anyway

After break we did some stuff and then got put into breakout rooms where I was put into a room with Problem Student! And one other student, who did not understand what we were supposed to be doing but insisted on us doing it her way anyway! We were only paired off for five minutes so I just let it happen.

Overall class went a bit better today, though the professor sounded extremely sad during the beginning of it? Maybe she's sick or something, I hope she's alright. But there was a fair amount of interaction from the students today, I think because we watched some videos near the beginning and that got people warmed up.

So, a quiz on Wednesday and four pages of homework due by Sunday. Ideally I will stop putting these things off until the last minute

When I got out of class (at 6:30) it was 82F outside and 50-someodd% humidity. This weather is wild

Satisfactory with Dave! I got a lot less done this week than I would have liked -- a huge chunk of my time tonight was spent riding around on trains to figure out routes, and dying in very inconvenient places and having to get back to them to get my stuff. But I did finish the rail line I was trying to finish last week, and set up two trains to run between the North and South Skybridge legs. I also made it possible to loop between South Skybridge and Avalon (the rail directions previously required going all the way back to Scenic Route to get between them even though they're right next to each other, comparatively), and redesigned the South Skybridge station. And I decided to theme the Skybridge stations and associated ground-level Skybridge legs around the Four Auspicious Beasts, so North will be black, South will be red, East will be blue, and West will be white. I got all of North painted black and am maybe halfway done with painting South. So that's what I'll be finishing next week, and then I can resume putting conveyors on the north leg. I also want to go over the Avalon/Scenic Route rail line and put a few more blocks on it to ease train congestion.

I'm excited to get the Skybridge done and let other people see it.

Alright, I'm going to eat more dinner -- I have half a denver omelette waiting for me -- and then go to bed.
