Chore day

Today I have done laundry and cleaned the litterboxes, and later I want to jump in the shower and get my hair washed. I also got the skateboard out and did a little practice on that, both in balancing on it and in practicing popping it up into my hand.

Tomorrow I want to get out early and take it to one of our nearby parks when there's not likely to be a lot of people around, do some actual riding around.

On Thursday I'm going to go to dad's and on the way I'm going to pop in to walmart and get some cheap skate shoes, because I've seen people saying that the shoes they have are actually really good for the price. I've also learned a bit of what you need when cruising vs doing tricks, and should get some new wheels (bigger and softer) at some point (bigger will also likely mean a spacer or new trucks) but I'll be alright for now.

Right now the immediate future is sitting. In about 45 minutes it'll be time to give the cats lunch, and once Oz is done eating hers I think that will be shower time. Dunno what else I'll do tonight, but definitely I'll be trying to go to bed early so I can do the park thing tomorrow

So usually when I have plans the following day I'll have a lot of trouble falling asleep. Last night I fell asleep fine but I did get woken up by a neighbour blasting music at fucking 5:30 in the morning and had trouble falling back asleep after that. Then got woken up by Oz wanting more food at about 7:30 and couldn't go back to sleep due to neighbours talking just outside.

I've been up since reading some internet and now I need to decide if I stay up and go skateboarding even earlier than planned or if I go back to sleep and skateboard later than planned. Since it's cold outside and I don't want to try to learn how to skateboard while sleepy it will probably be the latter, neighbours willing.

Made it to the park, did a little bit of pushing practice on the way here and I've done like ten minutes worth here and I'm already pretty wiped

I couldn't find the helmet I got with the skateboard so I'm wearing my biking helmet, so I look like a dork but I figure a helmet's a helmet

I am home! My legs started feeling rubbery, so I didn't think it was safe continuing and went home. On the way I took a wrong turn and got myself detoured, but it didn't add a super lot to my walk time

The spot I found is perfect for what I want to be doing but I think it's too far away to be a good practice spot for me. I had hoped to do some push practice on the way there but didn't end up feeling comfortable doing that very often, so more or less just walked the whole way. I'll need to find something closer -- unfortunately the street we live on is heavily trafficked by both people and cars, so I don't really want to just do it outside my house, at least until I'm more steady on the board. The original plan was to skate up and down the side of our house in the backyard, but a platform for the window AC got put in and cut that off (annoyingly just as I was starting all this).

I'll look around.

It got very hot outside in the sun, so when I got home I had a bowl of ice cream and now I'm going to sit in my room for a couple hours. It was fun, despite the hurdles, but it's also very hard
