Just found out Oz's medication got left in the mailbox all day and night. You know, in the metal box in direct sunlight. The temperature sensitive medication she needs to be able to eat

Fuck I hope it's okay. I did just kind of assume they'd leave that one at the door but more fool me I guess

Good thing I checked the tracking so it didn't continue to be left in the mailbox. Last I'd checked it was getting here tomorrow

She's been off it for two weeks so I'll be very glad to get her on it again. I'm also glad to have pretty high confidence it was helping

The medication has different dosage instructions on it, which gave me an excuse to call up and also be like 'So I haven't heard about the ultrasound results yet...?'

The vet she was seeing is working today, so I got to talk to him about it -- no obstructions and nothing that indicates cancer, my interpretation of his interpretation is that it's (possibly chronic) GI irritation, which fits with what I've read about everything. Kidneys are a little small and lymphs are a little big but nothing that he wouldn't expect to see in a 16 year old cat.

I did get permission to just stop giving her the fortiflora (it doesn't seem to be doing anything for her and she doesn't like it very much), otherwise he's very happy to keep her on famotidine and the mirtazapine as needed. What he really wants to avoid is giving her steroids, so so long as her current medication routine is working, and so far it seems to be.

I brought up both that I suspected her current food of being responsible for the stool issues and that when I attempted to give her a different food she had a very bad reaction to it and so that I was hesitant to change her food again, but he didn't suggest anything there and I didn't want to take up all of his time. I'll bring it up again with whoever she sees on the 7th, as well as bringing a stool sample in. And he wrote down all of his notes from this conversation so whoever sees her will have those

And then after all that we forgot to confirm the dosage for the famotidine. Her previous medication was 0.05 ml twice a day, from a tube 5mg/ml; this new one is labelled 0.1ml twice a day, from a tube 25mg/g -- I thought possibly the difference was the concentration but wanted to confirm (and if that was the case would have been annoyed because I'd attempted to order one 50mg/g and got told to order the 25). When I called back the receptionist told me he said to do the 0.05 though, so I will do that. If the lower of the doses works for her then that's great

Unfortunately I did give her a 0.1 dose before I noticed the discrepancy, so now I decide what I do with her second dose later tonight. Probably skip it? She's been given the correct amount already but not spread out like it's supposed to be. Since she's been off it for a couple weeks maybe giving her half again her medication would be fine?

Speaking of medications, kind of, I was finding that the supplements I'm taking for my ADHD (PI) were upsetting my stomach, so I spent a few days taking them one at a time and it seems the vitamin C is the culprit. Not unexpected, that's known to do that. I could try taking it with something that would help it digest easier but I'm going to just drop it for now and see how things go. There's so much vitamin C in the world, it's possible I'm getting enough in my diet that I don't need the supplement
