I was not up late playing video games!

I was up late putting together a document for a game I want to play with ash later. Oops

Hopefully I do better tonight so I can go to church tomorrow

Church this morning! I did go to bed at a reasonable time, and did also wake up at 6:45 because I was convinced my alarm was going off. When it was actually time to wake up I really wanted to go back to sleep, but I ended up making myself get up and get ready to go.

Service was nice, no unfortunate surprises this time. They had a Child Naming And Dedication Ceremony for seven children -- notably there was one lesbian couple and one gay couple involved (or, at least, one child who had at least two parents who appeared to be women, and one child who had at least two parents who appeared to be men)

There's actually a notable number of lesbians (or, women who appear to be in wlw relationships) who attend, which is interesting. I wonder if there's an applicable lesbian stereotype for this

There was also a sendoff for kids graduating from high school, and the theme of the service focused on that -- milestones, community, etc.

ash and I did play that game I wanted to play yesterday, and it was very silly and fun. The video I got it from called it the 1-10 Game, which is an extremely unhelpful and nondescript title, but how it goes is thus:
One person lists five names -- the prompt is 'people you like, or admire, or are close to in some way' but it's fine to get silly or weird with it
Another person assigns those names to a random number from 1-10 and puts them on a list. They then fill out the other five numbers with secret names -- the prompt would be 'people who the first person wouldn't want to interact with' but again, it's fine and encouraged to get silly and weird with it
Then you posit scenarios to the first person -- of the people on the list, which one would you trust to petsit while you went on vacation? Who would you hire a hitman to kill? Who would you plan an elaborate heist with?
First person gives a number, not knowing the name assigned to the number they're giving, and second person makes a note of the result. When you're down to one name, posit two scenarios for it and have the person pick one of those
Read out the resulting madlib-esque scenarios, and first person says yes or no to whether or not they're okay with that thing happening. Would you be okay with Mads Mikkelson petsitting for you? Would you hire a hitman to kill your brother? Would you plan an elaborate heist with Mitt Romney?
Count the number of times the person said 'yes' -- that number is their future! This step feels a little hat-on-a-hat to me, but it's all fun

Coming up with random scenarios in the moment is hard, so I spent the night before making a generator for it! It is here, and it is populated with scenarios that I made up, that I stole whole-cloth from the video I also stole the idea from, and scenarios that were generated by an AI. Maybe it has other uses than this game, like writing inspiration or something, I don't know, do what you want with it

Also the video I got it from, if you want to see how it's played

Some highlights: ash would enter a fae bargain with @erika, would not seduce an infant who has my adult face, and his future is that Brian David Gilbert will make out with one of his significant others but just in an attempt to make him jealous. I would enter a dance competition with Dolly Parton, I would buy drugs from my former physical therapist, and unfortunately my future is that I will feed ash to a bear

It was a good time! We played four rounds of it and then ash started making dinner and we hung some pictures (we also hung some pictures before we played, so a good day for that, too).

I started playing Graveyard Keeper again last night! I've remembered what I was doing in it, or near enough -- right now I'm working through the refugees questline -- building resources &c at their camp -- though now I'm doing a lot of waiting between steps on that so I probably need to find something else to be doing for a bit. Maybe I'll hit up the dungeons.

Right now I need to do chore list, and sit for a bit. I don't plan on doing anything particularly productive today, I want to let the weekend be the weekend

Yesterday I got some garage stuff put away, or at least put into the rooms they belong in, and set up a donations box. I also got a mod working on the steamdeck, which was kind of a pain in the ass but in the way doing that on any unfamiliar computer would be. I was up way too late, partly because of video games but mostly because of bad brain times

So today I'm taking it very easy, and not doing anything that isn't super necessary, like feeding and pilling the cat. I emptied the dishwasher, and then I got a shitload of cherries, and now I'm going to sit here for a few hours and not worry about anything.

The weather has been super weird since yesterday -- very cloudy, humid and warm but with a very cold breeze. It's a nice break from the summer weather but the lack of sun is probably contributing to bad brain. It's not the sole reason for it, but I think I'd handle the other reasons better if the sun were out

Some highlights: ash would enter a fae bargain with @erika

This would probably end up fine actually because I'm too much of a himbo to be an effectively diabolical fae

This was actually part of my reasoning. That, and I had confidence that you would greatly injure anyone/thing that was a jerk about stuff. Felt doubly protected :)

Just learned all of my COVID test kits are expired, even after taking the extended expiration dates into account

Ugh. I don't want to have to deal with this
