Inspection happened, we seem to have passed (I say "seem to" because there hasn't been any Official word one way or the other, but I don't really expect there to be unless something actually was wrong). Basically guy came in, checked the fire alarms and taps, asked me to stop storing my space heater in the shower (I, uh, am not actually going to comply with this because there's zero fire risk of putting an unplugged space heater in a room with no outlets, but I get that people are irrationally afraid of space heaters), took a picture of Ivy, and left. He said it looks like we take good care of the place, and while he probably does not actually have the authority to Officially declare that, I take it as a very good sign.
Taking today down, but immediate-future plans will involve unpacking the things that got packed away for the inspection, and I also want to just pull all my clothes out and go through them and store away/donate whatever. I am out of hangers and drawer space and need to make there be less clothes
I recently finally got around to starting Rule of Rose, a cult-classic PS2-era horror game -- I will have actual thoughts about it later, because my impression so far is somewhat complicated. It is giving me big Silent Hill vibes, but I think that's "man who has only played Silent Hill playing another game for the first time"-effect. They are contemporary and there are a lot of games in that genre that do similar things, that I just don't have a lot of experience with to compare them. I am also getting some Deadly Premonition vibes, which is either a coincidence based on them both being translated from another language/culture, or is SWERY (DP's developer) being influenced by Rule of Rose.
The plot so far is: I am an adult woman (whomst I suspect is not actually an adult, and that there's self-image stuff going on) who has been abducted onto an airship by a contingent of orphan children; the children are forcing me to participate in a club, which involves finding a monthly gift for them or they'll kill me. I also have a dog
How Long To Beat puts it at 9 hours long, so I should be done with it in a few days, unless the combat turns me off, because the combat is, very bad. So bad. And I've only had one combat section to deal with so far, so it's probably going to get worse
I wonder if there's cheats for it, I should look that up
With all the stuff going on with reddit, but specifically with the federated replacements popping up, I'm considering starting a personal mastodon server -- I gather that mastodon instances can interact with the reddit-replacement instances? I'm not positive, I'll have to confirm -- but the federated reddit-likes can interact with each other and they're all largely built on the same things, I think? Anyway, if that is indeed true then I could use a personal mastodon as basically a jacked-up RSS feed, that I could also interact from, which would be nice. I was considering going a level up and trying to do stuff with activitypub itself, but that quickly got more complicated than I can deal with, so I'm going to look into the mastodon thing. I'm going to mull over names for it and look into whether or not any of this would actually work the way I want it to
