Also it was very interesting seeing it after long enough that the sequence of events was pretty muddy, but every single song came back immediately and fully into my brain, which was very fun

I need a game that's just 100% unlocking map segments by reaching waypoints, because that's my favourite part of open-world games
Give me a game where the main mechanic is cartography, that procedurally generates world for me to explore and document

Watching the Puss in Boots movie and this new Dreamworks logo with all their characters feels very like "Stop thinking Disney made all our stuff!"

That was pretty great! Enjoyed the acting and animation, the pacing was good, the humour landed; I thought the plot would be too busy but it ended up working for me
Now I need to go watch Wakko's Wish though

Re: Promiseland
Today I worked on a prototype for R&DM, which autoplays an NPC walking into your room, gives you a task to complete, has interactable objects including ones that enable you to finish that task, and of course two rooms to exist in. My main takeaways from this are to (of course) replace all the art assets with more appropriate, less rpg-maker-y ones; and to figure out my own HUD scripting because I think it'll be ultimately easier and more effective than trying to make a pre-existing one do what I want. And, of course, step 4: Finish The Rest Of The Game
Next prototype steps I think will be to enable time, which will enable me to reset the day easier than without it
But I have used up all my brain working on that and need to go eat something small between now and when dinner will be ready

Re: Promiseland
Went to bed feeling like crap, slept poorly, woke up after not enough sleep. Fucked up my neck and shoulder again at some point these past few days, so that hasn't helped, but it's also been environmental
Did my due diligence of recording today's Arcadia chunk and the most pressing intro/outros, now I'm going to go lay down for a while

Re: Promiseland
Okay! Cleaned out half the closet, including hanging and re-hanging the shoe cubbies -- unsure if I like where one of them is, might take it down -- and covering the hole in the wall with a bit of board and some tape
Now I rest for a while! Tonight I want to start on going through all the clothes, which will involve a lot of loads of laundry, so will be a multiple-day affair. But the goal is to acquire a kitten the weekend after this coming weekend, so I'm on track for that
Back still hurts, but it's more of a problem when I'm in a position to be hunching over, so walking around, standing, doing things like cleaning aren't so much an issue; sitting at the computer is. So I need to be careful, but don't need to avoid pushing myself
Need lunch, going to go make lunch

Re: Promiseland
Another hour or so of cleaning, today I've successfully pulled all of my clothes down so I can go through them, store clothes I won't be wearing any time soon, get rid of clothes that don't fit/spark joy, and hang up the rest in an actually organised manner. And started doing that
Neck/shoulder are worse today because I can't sleep in a way that doesn't hurt it, but I'm doing stretches for it so hopefully it gets over itself soon
A couple nights ago I started reading Blindness. I don't know that I'm enjoying it, but it is a very fast read -- I'm already 400 pages in, and I am not a fast reader. The writing style is very interesting, and I'm into the concept (epidemic of inexplicable blindness goes around, how does society handle it and how do individuals handle it) but it's running pretty pessimistic, which I'm not into. It's also got one character who is inexplicably immune to the blindness, so gets to serve as the audience's viewpoint, and I think that's a coward's move. I really want the narrator to put me deep in the viewpoint (heh) of a blind person, have to figure out what the person is experiencing through their touch and hearing and sense of smell. But the whole thing is pretty distantly omniscient narrator, even ignoring the single sighted person. Ah well.
Since it's going so fast, I'll probably finish it, even though it's not really what I want out of it and some of the negativity of it strains credulity (even after how poorly the real-life COVID epidemic was handled)
I also started AI: Somnium Files, which is a Spike Chunsoft detective game, in which you play a detective with amnesia and an AI for an eyeball. I'm not far enough into it to say what the plot is, yet; it wasn't quite scratching the itch I wanted scratched last night so I got a bit in and then switched to just watching a couple episodes of Columbo. Before all that, ash and I hung out and watched Um Actually and another Game Grumps Wheel of Fortune, and before that I read him more of the first Clue book -- I am in a mood to deduce things and feel clever
And it's lunchtime once again
