She did end up eating some of it, so hopefully it isn't spoiled after all. I do generally trust her to not eat spoiled food, she's always been good about that, as you'd expect from a cat.

That she wants to leave her food for a while and come back to it, lately, is a legitimate and good reason to try to get her off of raw, because that's not safe practices. (I do fridge it when she's not eating it, but still). To say nothing of her continued refusal to eat non-muscle meat, which makes sense with how much muscle she's lost, that she's trying to maximise that kind of protein intake. But she needs vitamins

She does eat the organs occasionally so I'm not super-duper worried, but it's another reason to want to switch her back to conventional foods. I just will really miss the dental benefits - nothing comes close to raw bone for keeping animal teeth clean and healthy

Class is done! Everyone was very low-energy today and I think it annoyed the professor a little. We're also getting into sections where she expects us to, uh, remember things from previous lessons, and. I do not, mostly. So I'm going to make an anki deck with everything up to the chapter we're currently on and try to keep it updated. We also have homework that I'm going to do in a minute, here, and we have a quiz on Wednesday focused on the hiragana, so that should be pretty easy.

Just off the phone with the vet. Her B12 is fine, her folate is low, which they just use as a diagnostic criteria, they don't supplement it. It means she does have lower-GI irritation, and that means either lymphoma or IBD, and that means either treating with steroids or doing a biopsy (the steroids interfere with the biopsy results, so it's one or the other).

Her liver, kidney, and white blood cell results are all fine, her thyroid levels are high again so we're raising her meds to half a pill twice a day (instead of half in the morning and a quarter at night). That reminds me she needs a refill on those soon

Vet believes that her thyroid being out of whack could be causing the weight loss, so we're going to raise her meds and see if she does any better, get her levels checked again in a month

Asked about the food problem and she recommended a different brand, which is in stock and also appears to be expensive, but slightly less expensive than the other brand. We're going to give it a shot, hopefully she likes it, at least for a while.

I'm debating continuing the supplements until the new food gets here -- B12 is one you just pee out the excess, and the specific pills I have also contain folate. That's what was worrying me about them, because folate you can overdose on, but if she's low... A symptom of folate deficiency is low appetite, so maybe. Vets don't want to supplement it, but maybe it would help?

Okay, I am going to go eat my dinner and continue making this anki deck.

Did all my homework, and spend literally the entire evening going through the textbook and making anki cards. Then I hid all the cards for things that we covered today and/or are homework questions, so I can't be accused of helping people cheat, and then I uploaded the deck to the interwebs and gave my classmates the link to it. At least one person has appreciated it, and it's 1 in the morning so I'm sure most people haven't seen it yet, so yay.

It is not a great deck, because anki is complicated and I am not smart enough to make a great deck. But it's a serviceable deck.

There's an arcadia scheduled for tomorrow so I'm going to need to be going to bed here soon, but first I need to eat some more and also just, like, chill out for a minute now that I'm not knee-deep in a project.

I got Oz to eat some of her kibble for dinner tonight -- Cael has also eaten some of it, because he is a butt. She has not eaten as much as I'd like her to, but she has eaten, and that is a more nutritionally complete meal, so. I do need to be careful about that, because as I've mentioned I don't want her to be on kibble and raw at the same time, so if she starts eating kibble I need to be sure that she's going to eat enough of it to only be eating kibble. But we're also switching her kibble soon anyway.

I am worried about the urinary crystals. I wasn't super worried about that on the raw because it's such a wet diet, but going back to a kibble I worry that she'll start making crystals/stones again, and if she does, then like, she can't be on both special diets at once. So what do we do?

I am considering getting some CBD for her. I've sourced some for cats that seems legit, but I'm going to hold off for a bit before I try it -- I don't want to be trying a bunch of things on her at once, that is bad caretaking and bad science. But it's in my head.

Okay, yes, chilling and eating and sleeping. Ta

Not nearly enough sleep last night, very tired today. Did an Arcadia recording and I think fuckall else. I did start playing a Japanese version of Digimon World, which is fun but exhausting. Translating Every Single Line of something just takes so much time and effort, you know? But there's stuff I recognise, and enough to get the gist of a line before translating it!

ash and I finished Deadly Premonition a couple days ago and now are probably going to go through some side-quests just for funsies. I also got it mostly working on the steam deck and have been playing through it with an aim to 100%ing it as much as I'm able (I am. Not going to beat it on hard difficulty. Probably.) and it's neat to be playing it so soon after a playthrough because I'm picking up on some very neat hints about where the game goes, later.

And tonight we finished watching through Pui Pui Molcar which is a stop-animation cartoon about guinea pigs that are also cars. They're very short episodes (two and a half minutes, about), extremely cute, and completely dialogue-less. High recommend.

Early night, definitely. Have class tomorrow, plus that quiz, so hopefully the cats let me sleep through the night. Also hope I let me sleep through the night

It's another rough one! Oz has been eating reasonably but now is also throwing up her food, so hopefully the new food arrives soon. Unfortunately it seems the vet still has not approved the order and then when they do get around to that it also needs to actually ship, so! I don't know why I just can't get anyone to take the fact that she's not eating seriously. I don't know how they can hold her and feel her bones sharp against her skin and not believe me that this is an emergency situation.

We can also hope the throwing up is just her re-acclimating from raw to kibble.

I did go ahead and order some CBD -- I would like to be a good patient ('s parent) and wait until her next appointment and bring it up then to get the vet's opinion on it, but it's really hard to believe there's a way to make things easier for her and not just jump onto it. I am going to wait to use it until we have the new food so that I can see how she likes that without muddying the data by having her be on drugs. Hopefully she'll even take it, though.

A breaker popped right before class started, and then again halfway through class, so I missed the second half of it (which was going over hiragana anyway, so I didn't need that info, but still). After class was the quiz, which I aced, natch. It was "True or False: "so" in hiragana is ใ", "True or False: โ€ใกโ€ in romaji is tsu", etc. No new homework assignments yet, so I'm just going to do some more work on the class flashcards and then hang out for the rest of the afternoon.

Slept all day, except for the parts where Oz was waking me up every twenty minutes. She is still eating okay and also still occasionally throwing it back up. Food is due to arrive Saturday, as is the CBD. Very worried about the urinary crystals thing because I'm pretty sure when I ask about it the vet is going to tell me I have to put her on wet food and that we definitely can't afford.

Did some more work on the website project that's full of little secrets, and soon I'll be adding actual content to it and not just ways to prevent people from actually accessing that content. In a minute here I'm going to go jump in the shower and freeze to death, and then by the time I'm done ash should be home, so we can hang out and make dinner and watch Dungeon Meshi.

So today we had an Arcadia scheduled for noon, and this one has been a nightmare to schedule so it was important to actually do it then, so when the cat woke me up at 6 and wouldn't let me go back to sleep until, like, 9, that was a problem!

I did ultimately get back to sleep, and when I woke up at 11 it turned out the session had to be rescheduled anyway due to job issues for one of the actors (unexpectedly forced to go into work, you know how it is). So I went back to sleep and that was most of my day

When I woke up, Oz's new food had arrived! She did spend most of the day refusing to eat it, but a bit ago I put a dab of meat puree on it and she started eating it enthusiastically. It will hopefully not make her throw up, and also hopefully she keeps eating it and she gains weight on it and she doesn't develop kidney stones on it, etc.

It's going to be a very rough month money-wise, but thankfully February is short. Unfortunately all months coming up are also going to be rough.

Uh, listened to the Breathing Space premier, it went alright; watched a few youtubes with ash; read a couple pages of Babel but I'm too tired to keep that up, I think. Cleaned the counters in the kitchen and I need to empty the dishwasher before I go to bed.

Tomorrow should mostly be clear and then that night through Monday we're supposed to get storms. Looks like sunny next weekend, so maybe we can do something then. I also should get back to dad's house, soon -- there's just been so much going on with classes and vet and &c

In two weeks, ash and I are going to be taking the train to San Francisco. Nervous! But it should be fun. We're just spending a night there, but it's an easy enough trip (touch wood) that if we want to do it for longer in the future we can. Hopefully the weather is nice, right now they're also getting rain.

CBD should arrive tomorrow, but again I want to give Oz some time on the new food without it to see how she does. I do hope it helps with her anxiety if not her appetite

Gonna go zone out for a bit, ta
