A lot of class is, the teacher calls on someone to read a question from the textbook, then answer that question, and then as a class we all repeat it together. And a solid 70% of people get called on and don't know what we're doing or where we are in the book.

And it's like, you're paying enough attention to hear your name get called, but you haven't figured out what we're doing after 10 people have gone before you? Come on

Oh also I used up the last tube of biscuit dough to make dognut donuts, so now it'll be a while before I can make them again. They were delicious, though, and I'm slowly refining my process for making them!

February is always the worst month.

Class today was rough -- the storms last night meant technical difficulties for a lot of students, and even the teacher when we first started. She excused people who weren't able to participate, though, and the rest of us made it through.

It is a bit funny when I get a question wrong and people just follow me into the wrong answer

It does always annoy me when は gets taught as the subject marker, as this professor is doing -- it's easier for english speakers to understand faster, but it's also wrong and makes it harder to understand what it's actually doing later on. Like, I get it, getting into a whole digression about the difference between the topic and the subject of a sentence is a bit much for people who are just starting to learn the language, but that's how you get the "I am an eel" joke--

A waiter asks a man what he would like and he responds: "I am an eel" -- 私はうなぎです (watashi wa unagi desu), "I", "topic", "an eel", "is". Except that clearly that is not an accurate translation, literal though it may be! "As for me, it's the eel" -- "As for me, (I would like) the eel"

We're not even touching on が in class yet, the actual subject marker. How confused are people going to be when we actually get there?

No new homework assigned yet, so in half an hour I'm going to pill the cat, clean out the litterboxes, and then write out more flashcards. My hair came out very orange, and a subdued green, so pumpkin colours -- of course I sent @sorcyress a picture. I also left a little of my hair protein cream in it overnight (and put some in it after each stage), and it seems to have almost entirely recovered from being assaulted by bleach. I do am getting low on that now, though, and need to get more. Next month, maybe.

Oh also some students were talking about the weather before class started (or, more accurately, after class started but while the teacher was away to try to fix her set-up) and some people asked if winds like last night were normal and, babies. They claimed it isn't, but like -- it's extremely normal, it's that we haven't had storms like that in a few years before last January that's weird.

Trying to decide if I can get my traditional rose acquisition this year. I might be able to afford it if I don't get any supplies, which I think I can manage because I'm pretty sure I still have some spares of everything from previous years.

I wanted to get grapes this year, too, but it's probably going to come down to one or the other, if either.

I'll see what the easter sale brings, for the roses.

The creators of the weird fish game (with just a little pinch of cum) released a demo for their next game. It's very good, and I'm very excited for an awful experience.

Oz had a good day! She's been eating, she's been moving around, for a little bit she ran all over the room and the cat tree and chased her tail! She's been talking at me and has only been a little grumbly. The food seems to be doing her good!

It's also been keeping her sated through the night - no more waking me up at 6 AM and no more eating my pillows

I am going to go ahead and start trying the CBD today, start seeing how she reacts to it

Added CBD to her pill patty -- I meant to do one drop, but I think it ended up with two; the dosage instructions recommend three for a cat her size, so it's not a big deal. She took it fine, didn't seem to notice any flavour or texture problems. We'll see if and how it affects her!

Today was a somewhat long arcadia recording, but it was also very fun with a good range of emotions to play with. We had a stand-in for one of the actors who we just couldn't get the schedule to work with, and the stand-in is a fan of the show who recently got cast for a character who hasn't really shown up yet. So it was our first time recording together, which was neat. After everything wound down I did my usual 'Welp, I'm gonna bail because I have things to do, it was nice recording with all of you' and they went (paraphrased) 'Wait I love you! I'm a huge fan!' which was sweet. Niko does not get enough love, IMO, but Arcadia in general doesn't get enough love.

Oz has not shown any particular difference in behaviour, I don't think, but also hasn't shown any nervousness that I've been aware of nor has she had any negative reactions.

This afternoon I did my usual reread and rewatch of the most recent Dungeon Meshi, which continues to be fun and interesting. And also I really need people to stop putting Senshi on a pedestal -- I know why they're doing it, a really shallow read of his character makes it really easy to turn him into, I don't know, everyone's surrogate Father Figure, but he's not flawless and a lot of the positions fandom is trying to put him in, he'd be really bad for. He is a kind person who really wants to share his joy of food with everyone around him! He is also incredibly selfish and self-centered, and prioritises his own perspectives to the detriment of the people around him (cf making someone suffering from poison wait before giving them the antidote, because he wanted to use the antidote in his cooking). He's not a bad person by any means -- none of the main cast are! But they're all flawed and putting Senshi in particular into a position of power or leadership is not a great idea.

Love the character, of course! But recognise his shortcomings and don't sell his arc and growth short, or you're not really loving Senshi.

ash was not feeling well today so we had canned soup for dinner, which was good but not super filling, you know. We watched a small handful of youtubes that I picked out to make him feel better, then he went to bed, and shortly thereafter I made myself pepcorn, which I am eating now and continuing to watch youtubes.

A classmate sent a concerning message into the discord server today ("going to the hospital, don't know if ill be able to attend class tomorrow or if ill even have my phone"), so I hope they're alright. That sounds like mental health troubles, so I hope they're okay.

Class tomorrow, and on Friday I'm going to swing by dad's if the weather isn't too bad. I do should eat an actual food that isn't popcorn, but I'll figure that out later. It's only 10, still got a few hours left in me before bed.
