Okay, at about 1 I started getting ready to head over to dad's house, because I had a couple things I wanted to do beforehand and also wanted to head out at about 2. So I did all that and then caught a bus heading toward Mather station. The light rail station near the house is closed, apparently, someone was saying it was construction for the new trains but I don't think that's true because our station has already had construction done. It could be a different station that is just cutting off our station, but idk. Either way, couldn't take the train

The first bus had some guy trying on several outfits in the back, which was weird and a couple of times he almost fell into me. He was also complaining about the driver's driving and like, if you were sitting down instead of trying on a third shirt that wouldn't have been a problem, honestly

The second bus had the guy talking about the train stations, and also for most of the ride he was standing right up next to the bus driver, which wouldn't normally be a problem except that he was also blocking people from getting on or off and making them squeeze by him. A guy complained about it just before my stop, and the first guy either was getting off there too or got off because of the guy complaining, and ended up complaining at me about the complainer while we both walked back toward the intersection. I didn't want to get into anything so I just agreed with him

I then swung by Target for index cards, and I'm pleased that despite everything you can still get a pack of a hundred index cards for less than a dollar.

Then I walked the rest of the way to dad's house and we shot the shit and went through some more stuff together. I learned my brother-in-law has a pacemaker and got fired from his job, and that his union got him re-hired, and I learned that dad's court date is the 22nd, so very slightly less than two weeks from now. I am trying not to worry but I am not super optimistic. His lawyer hasn't really been in contact with him because there's nothing to do yet. Hopefully he's able to get house arrest again or something.

My phone also ran out of storage space, so my recording stopped partway through again. Next time I bring the USB stick for extra space

ash picked me up and gave me a ride home, we hung out while he made dinner, we watched Dungeon Meshi and Taskmaster and Game Grumps, and he went to bed. I'm going to get some of these flashcards done and then chill for the rest of the night.

Okay, I have written out all 123 due flashcards, plus the ones I made mistakes on and had to redo. Just need to make space on my phone so I can take pictures of them, make a single image out of all of it, and then submit it.

Read that, made anki cards out of it. Need to start heading to bed, so flashcard pictures will happen tomorrow

Alright. Laid out all the cards in neat little rows, took pictures, did that eight times (four sets, front and back), put everything away, went back to the computer to turn the pictures into uploadable files, discovered they were illegibly blurry for some god forsaken reason, did it all again-

My everything hurts.

Turned it all into a single image, tried to figure out how to make that a PDF without it fucking everything up, deemed things 'good enough', and uploaded them. For some reason the PDF insists on making the image small! I don't know why! But it zooms in fine and is readable then, so it's probably fine.

If I get points knocked off then whatever, I tried.

Extremely bad sleep last night. I really don't want to attend class today.

Okay. Class attended. It went alright, we went over the flashcards homework, (asked the professor to make 'png' and 'jpg' files valid for submission to make future assignments like this easier,) did some studying on kosoado pronouns/demonstratives (kore, kono, koko, "this one", "this", "here"; sore, sono, soko, "that one", "that", "there"; are, ano, asoko, "that one over there", "that over there", "over there"; dore, dono, doko, "which one", "which", "where"), listened to the audio for the chapter 2 vocabulary list (たんご), and listened to the audio for some example conversations using the chapter 2 vocabulary. We have a quiz on wednesday also on that vocabulary, which I will actually need to study for, though it's T/F again and I'm pretty confident in my ability to recognise 'yes, that is the word for that', 'no, that isn't the word for that' even if I don't remember offhand what the word is without prompting. Still, better safe and all that.

I also have a couple homework assignments to get done, but no anki cards to make because I've already made the ones for what we're currently studying.

Yesterday I watched The Boy and the Heron, the new Ghibli movie, which was very interesting. It's a strange one, feels kind of like the climax to a much longer story, with very low-key pacing and not a lot of answered questions or things explained. Definitely worth a watch, and I'm very curious if when it's released in America they change the soundtrack at all, though I suspect that might be against the contract Ghibli has with Disney --

Looked it up and it doesn't seem like it would be

Will Disney modify (i.e. cut scenes from) these films?

No. This will not happen. Disney can not cut even one second from the films, according to the contract. Ghibli has officially stated that "With Disney's commitment to maintain the quality of the original titles, there will be no changes to music and sequences in foreign language versions." According to Mr. Suzuki, the producer of Ghibli, other companies such as Fox and Time-Warner contacted Tokuma, but Disney was the only company willing to agree to this condition, and that was the main reason why Tokuma chose Disney as a partner.

The term means that Disney can not touch the films, but that does not prevent Disney from asking Ghibli to cut or change the contents of the film, as Tokuma and Ghibli retains the editing right. In an interview, Mr. Suzuki said that Miramax faxed Ghibli, asking if they could cut several scenes from "Mononoke Hime". But nothing was cut from Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke).

In the "Kiki's Delivery Service" English dub, the opening and the ending songs were changed, and several music scores were added (to the scenes with no music in original). However, nothing was cut, and nothing was greatly changed.

So! Curious.

Anyway, then ash and I watched Shape of Water, which was also interesting! It did not quite grab me, but it was an entertaining watch. We also watched a few more Game Grumps Wheel of Fortunes, which we'd apparently seen before, but were still funny.

After ash went to bed, I finally finished reading Shut Your Teeth, a visual novel about a Russian tourist who goes missing in Thailand and his friend(ish) who shows up to find him. The apartment complex he was staying in is allegedly haunted, and there's a lot of dealing with Thai folklore and superstitions, and creepy children playing creepy games. I read it in a nonlinear format that helps keep the suspense up, but I want to read it again in its linear option to get a better feel of how things played out day-by-day. And then there's a sequel (I think it's a sequel, might be a spiritual sequel) that I want to get to.

I need to write out new cat-care instructions for Erik to have while ash and I are away, and I need to do laundry and pick out stuff to bring on that trip. And clean my room. It's supposed to rain the entire time we're down there, which is a bummer and next time we do this we should do it not in February, but it should still hopefully be a nice time! Still, I am crossing my fingers that the weather turns better by the end of the week

Okay, I am going to go eat something and then get my homework done, and then try to start on laundry

There was one guy who had an incorrect answer and was like 'Yeah, my son looked at it and was like 'what the heck are you doing'', which is adorable. He is also sad that he's so behind on being able to read hiragana than the rest of the class, which is definitely a perception issue because my dude, most of the class was unable to read hiragana.

I have a parasocial relationship with this man and am rooting for him to succeed. Today he was able to read one of his flashcards and say what it meant!

Upped Oz to four drops of CBD twice a day, yesterday, and it seems to be doing her good. It's hard to put into words the way it's affecting her, but she just generally is less nervous-seeming, is more active, plays more, comes out of my room more. Just, her body language is better. She did make a nuisance of herself last night and hopefully that doesn't continue, we'll see.
