Class done! An hour ago; I got a few things done between it ending and now. It felt very long, we mostly just did some recall exercises from the textbook. At one point we were split into groups to do a, honestly very simple, exercise where one person would be on one page with a short list of items, and half of the items have prices associated and half of them the prices are blank; and the other person would be on a different page that has the same list of items with the opposite ones having a price/blank price. We're supposed to ask each other 'how much does [item] cost' (ことはいくらですか) and the other person says how much it is, and you go back and forth until all your items have prices. The teacher made this a little more complicated by making us groups of three, and then in my group was a person who just, could not understand what we were doing and we spent most of the time allotted trying to explain it to him. A little frustrating!

The teacher also forgot to do role call until the very last minute, like literally she had dismissed us and some people had already left, so we had to try to remember who had been in class. Between us we seemed to get it, though, so hopefully no harm done.

After class I finished off what was needed for this upcoming arcadia, despite Cael's best attempts to interrupt me, and then I called dad to find out how he's doing. He still hasn't heard anything from the lawyer, but will let me know what he knows tomorrow after the plea deal hopefully gets accepted -- he won't actually be a part of that, the lawyer will be doing it on his behalf. Dad seemed to feel like the lawyer didn't necessarily believe him that he has to care for his sick, elderly sister, so hopefully that's not the case and he does in fact.

Dad also apparently had it in his head that I was dating Erik, which is, not the case. But he asked how Erik was doing, which was nice of him.

I have a decent chunk of homework to get through before Sunday, so I'm going to start work on that in a minute, here, and at some point I should have a lunch.

I am deeply amused by the idea of you dating Erik, and really confused as to how he came to that conclusion.

As far as I can guess he just hasn't remembered anyone's names, either in general or specifically when I brought up that "Erik" had lost his job, so just jumped to 'my partner' when 'person I'm living with' came up. It's anyone's guess whether he remembers I'm living with more than one person, even

Homework done! It's starting to get tricky and a little less hand-holdy, but I'm still confident I've got it. Also my tablet got all scratched up, which is very annoying, but at least it still works fine.

I need to update the anki deck, but I think I'll do that tomorrow -- it's gotten late and I want to just sit here for a bit

Tired

Last night the pool filter/pump/whatever was making a weird noise every five minutes and was still doing it this morning, so I let ash know so he could message the pool people, then at eleven-something it uh, started smoking, and then made a noise and turned itself off. I assume when its schedule ticked over to actually trying to pump the pool, whatever was wrong with it became too much and it broke.

So! We're without the pool pump until probably monday, they say, and everything to do with it has (hopefully) been turned completely off in the meantime, so it (hopefully) won't start itself back up again at some point between now and then. Probably should have turned it off when it started making the noise, but I'm not going to blame myself -- I don't think it would have occurred to me to flip the breakers to cut power to it, and trying to mess with it might have turned it on while I was out there and had it explode on me.

The trick here is whether the property managers have the ability to approve the replacement of the broken part (or the whole machine) without needing to get approval from the landlord, first, because the landlords have of course been extremely difficult to get in contact with. We needed to renew our lease end of last year and that just, didn't happen, because the property managers weren't able to get in contact with the landlords! So we're on a month-to-month now which is less than ideal and hopefully they don't show up and decide they're selling the house and we have to GTFO, especially while Erik is between jobs

 
I've updated the public anki decks and added another ten pages of text book to upload when I'm reasonably confident the cards won't be answers on the homework.

It's false spring! ash and I are going to do some gardening this weekend to get the yard ready for actual spring; pull some weeds, trim some bushes, pick up whatever detritus the storms have left behind, so on. I think I want to turn the leaf cover that's in my garden area, too, get that aerated and such. Raking and sweeping my back patio area is going to wait for actual spring, though.

I need to have lunch, and pill the cat, and then I will chill for a bit more. Once again the book I was waiting for with the library has become available while I'm in the middle of a different book, so now I need to decide if I'm going to hop back over to it or if I'm going to try to finish this current book first and risk running out of it while the first book is still on hold. Kind of the inverse of the nacho and cheese problem (run out of cheese but have chips, buy more cheese, run out of chips but you still have cheese, buy more chips, ad nauseum) -- run out of book, have to wait for the next book, or have two books and run out of time before I can finish them

What I am going to do is get up and go pee like I've been not doing for an hour

It just, like, you would think the one single thing you could count on a landlord to respond to would be renewing the lease. Like, our rent didn't go up because they didn't show up to raise it, and that's just, really concerning.

Even if they wanted to go month-to-month you'd think they'd show up and explicitly make that happen, not just have it happen by default

Not a great start to the day

To begin with, the dog woke me up scratching (very insistently) at my door and wouldn't stop until I got up and scolded her. Then when I was actually awake and looking at my email I discovered that one of my card payments had been returned by my bank due to insufficient funds, which was concerning to say the least. Turns out when I used Chewy at the beginning of the month to buy cat litter they charged my bank card instead of one of my credit cards so when I calculated how much of my bank account should go to which card my math was off! I fucking hate how Chewy does paypal, it fucks me over every god damn time and I need to just remember that I need to unlink it every time before I make a purchase. Unfortunately Chewy's website is a nightmare and makes that harder than it should be -- every time I try I have to deal with this:

 
--and yeah, it works in a private window so it's some add-on or another doing it, but it's literally the only website that has that problem and all of my add-ons are privacy focused so it's pretty fuckin' suspicious that they break it to begin with. Anyway, I just never want to deal with figuring out how to properly fix it while I'm in a position to care about it getting fixed, so.

This month has been awful for financials, there's been so much nonsense happening. And it's frustrating that it's just going to continue because my money is stretched so tight right now

Chewy is so frustrating. I feel like every time I use it for anything there's an issue. I continue to hate so much how it's become the norm for there to be basically one site that does everything for one market, and then that site starts (continues to) suck.

Also, sorry about the dog, I think there's been issues with getting her food to her at the right times, going to sort out a better plan with the husband this weekend. (Having her food in the bedroom has been difficult for me to adjust to bringing it out in the morning. I need to get a better morning routine set)
