読みませんでした。代わりポッドキャストを聞きました。(yomimasen deshita. kawari poddokyasuto wo kikimashita.)

I didn't read. Instead, I listened to a podcast.

今、寝ます。(ima, nemasu)

Now, I will sleep.

(I'm actually not sure that's grammatical. Probably needs a properly present tense.)

(Or no, I guess present tense would mean I'm asleep, wouldn't it. So that's fine)

Summarizing the information in Inform's documentation both for ease of future reference and to make sure I understand what I'm reading as I plow through this

Chapter 1: Welcome to Inform
-Information on how to use the IDE, the different functions of the different tabs/pages. Notable: The Index lists all objects that exist in the game, organized by type, including a map of the world; the Skein is a web of every action taken in testing -- note also that the Skein holds onto actions even if parts of the game have been deleted, note also that it does not include automatically-produced actions (eg through 'test me' commands)

Chapter 2: The Source Text
-A gist of the programming language; verbs, nouns, prepositions, how to put them together in a way the computer understands. Best practices to make finding and fixing bugs easier for you when they start popping up (include headers, so the IDE will point to them when it reports a bug). How to install extensions, some settings options and "use options", how to create an options.txt file that will load certain settings and commands automatically in every game file (somewhat confusingly, instructions are located in 2.13 Administering Classroom Use)

Chapter 3: Things
-Nouns and their properties, creating custom properties; properties inherent to certain types of noun and the limits to which you can mess with those properties

Chapter 4: Kinds
-Creating and referring to categories of noun; setting default values; (frankly largely a continuation of Chapter 3)

Chapter 5: Text
-Substituting and formatting text

Chapter 6: Descriptions
-Adjectives, how they interact with nouns and each other, how to use them to point to specific groups of nouns

Another class done, and again a discussion board instead of a class this coming wednesday, which is a little frustrating! It was also a little bit of a rough class, in part because it's been a week since the last one, you know.

But also a cat pooped in the room I use to attend class, last night, and I was already running late when I had to deal with that, so I got to class late but just before she called on me in roll, so. No harm done, really, and I've got the chair cover that was either pooped on or just used to cover the poop put in the wash.

And then I sort of kind of got scolded by the teacher for going too fast, and again when I tried slowing down but still ended up responding first, so for the rest of the class I put active effort into not being the first to respond which threw me off because I'm having to devote part of my brain to monitoring what everyone else in the class is doing, and also meant that the class went super slow because, as I mentioned, when I'm not the first out the gate then everyone takes five thousand years to say anything -- not even because they don't know the answer, because they're all waiting for someone else to go first. And like, I get it, we don't want one person always giving away the answer, and force people to actually learn the material, but also I have ADHD and I want to move on. If I stop actively engaging with the material, I'm going to fall behind and fail this class like I do every class I've ever been in except the one that let me jump ahead and turn stuff in early. I know the solution isn't just letting me run roughshod over everyone else in class, and that there isn't really a solution beyond maximising the space for the maximum number of people to participate, even if that means that I in particular get screwed over. But I'd like that to not be the case. Not, that I want to run roughshod over people, I just want to be able to participate at my own speed and not have that interfere with other people also getting to participate.

Anyway, after that she picked me out again to make me call on another person of my choice and ask them a question in Japanese, which is not my favourite thing to have to do, single out another student! She made me do it twice for some reason, and I just went straight down the list of people in the zoom from the top to the first person that was paying attention and responded when I called on them. Twice. And then had that student call on another student, and then when that was turning out poorly because people didn't want to have to call on other students she started suggesting students to call on.

Right about then we also got someone at the door, knocking insistently four or so times, but no one was able to get to the door to answer it before they left. The food box was there when Erik did get to the door, but unless the delivery person needed something from us, I don't think it was that, given the length of time they hung around and how much they were knocking. I really wish I knew who they were and what they wanted, but I couldn't get away from the call to answer, myself. Couldn't have been that important if they didn't leave a note, I guess.

Mostly we conjugated verbs into *ます and *ません forms, and constructed sentences with に, で, へ, and を particles. Our homework is starting practising some kanji, more of the particles, constructing 'would you like to?' sentences, and then the discussion board which is going to be writing 'I often/always do x' and 'I rarely/never do y', asking someone else 'will you read x in Japan?' and 'Would you like to watch a movie/TV with me and my friends at my house?'.

There was a bit with helping a student with some technical issues at the end of class, and then we got dismissed a few minutes late. And now my knee is killing me, so I'm going to be staying off of it as much as I can today. So no gardening or pool walk. But lunch of some kind, and then possibly homework or maybe not homework.

Bit spacey today, and I remembered that I forgot to take those vitamins today (after also not taking them a couple days ago)

Yeah, did basically nothing but watch youtube today. I did water the cats, and caught up on my Dungeon Meshi reread/rewatch, but aside from that. All day in bed, just zoning out to youtube videos.
