Going to go back to sleep, but today I should take one of the quizzes and do the flashcards, and also my medi-cal renewal form arrived yesterday so I should fill that out and get it into the mail

Okay, I have lunch, so I can take pills on not-an-empty-stomach, and caffeine, I'll finish that up while watching youtube and then be productive

Kanji quiz done, 20/20 though it was closer than I'd have liked and I should have waited for the awake to kick in

Another quiz done, 28/30 for a dumb mistake. One more quiz on chapter 3 and 4 vocabulary, the flashcards, and a couple pages in the workbook

ash got me Dredge yesterday, so I played some of that and will probably play some more of it today. It's fun, but I am dying for the ability to toggle actions with a button press instead of holding it down to pull up a selection wheel. Also the inconsistency in what A and X do keeps throwing me off, and the game is Not Happy about you trying to look around while moving, having the camera anywhere but directly behind you really messes with it. But I've upgraded my ship to have more space and I'm working on doing that again, been doing quests for people and selling a lot of fish. I expect I'll be doing a lot of fishing in peaceful mode when I'm done with the storyline/quest stuff

Not enough sleep, might take a nap, can't decide if that's a good idea or not. I do need to get up and get Oz's pill for her, it's starting to get late in the day. We just had a bunch of rain so I don't feel any particular need to go out and garden, though when it's dry for a while I do need to trim the pool rose again, it's been growing more rust.

My joints are unsurprisingly unhappy, and it's been cold enough in my room for the space heater to kick on even though it's set to the lowest available temperature, so even if I don't go back to sleep it's going to be a lowkey, low-energy day

Some nights, before I go to bed, I'll go out to the kitchen, have a glass of milk, and give my cats a teaspoon of milk each as a little treat. Despite doing this several times, now, Cael still can't figure out that the milk is inside the bowl, and will sniff the outside, lose interest, and wander off before I move the bowl to directly under his nose. Meanwhile, Oz gets so cold drinking the cold milk in the cold kitchen that she starts shivering before she's done drinking it

I have written out the flashcards, now I just need to lay them out and take pictures of them; and I've been cramming the vocabulary list. I do Not have a handle on it yet, but I'll get there. I'm playing Dredge and watching youtube between quizzing myself (not procrastinating! giving the words time to move out of short-term memory! it's strategic!). I also played Dredge while hanging out with ash earlier, while he played Fallout, then I ate dinner while watching youtube and starting the flashcards, and then ash and I watched the new Taskmaster before he went to bed. I have the third hull upgrade and am working on the last equipment upgrades. That's eaten up most of my funds, so I'm also just fishin'

More of this at least until I finish the cram, and then bed.

Aaaand homework done! The workbook pages were easier than I thought they'd be (maybe because I didn't bother with kanji at all, but also just, it was easier than I thought it'd be), but the flashcards are always The Worst just because taking the pictures of them is such an enormous pain in the ass and also my lower back

So the eservices page on the college's website has operating hours, because of course it does, and I kept forgetting to look at it for my upcoming enrollment period during said operating hours. But last night I was up basically to when they opened, so I stayed up a little longer to check that out -- my Fall enrollment period starts May 3rd, and unless it fills up before then the class I want will be available (Japanese 402, the next step up from this 401 class). I also learned there's another class after that also run by my current professor, so assuming that's available again next Spring I can also plan on taking that.

I was considering taking some kind of Japanese History or Japanese Culture (or Asian Culture or &c) class over Summer, but there isn't one -- I could have sworn there was at one point, but 🤷. Current plan is to take a free online course for that from somewhere -- I found a couple googling a month or so ago -- which will probably be for the best for my GPA anyway since I'm very bad at history. The goal is just to get more context to make learning the language easier.

The good news is there's about a month and some change left of this current class -- we're roughly 70% of the way through the term -- and I'm still very on track. I have missed zero assignments and have a 98.26% total grade. My secret here is that none of the assignments have been essays -- I am very good at answering questions that have a right answer and very bad at assignments that are open to interpretation. This is a thing I should probably work on

The other secret is that I'm not in Hell

Anyway! Since I'm done with homework and tests I'm going to play video games for a while.

For April Fools' day, Quinton Reviews uploaded a thirty-eight hour video of his dad reviewing the entirety of the Beverly Hillbillies, so I've been picking away at that while I play Dredge. It's interesting! His dad is pretty charming -- he's appeared in at least one video before, to provide context for something that was Before Quinton's Time
