Yes if you have an enclosed space and a single fan in it, it's not going to cool the room (it will cool you if it's aimed at you)

But it's almost like moving the heat out of a room cools the temperature in the room

I hear 'it doesn't actually cool you, it just makes you feel cooler' a lot too and even setting aside that the difference between those is moot when my goal is to feel cooler, it does in fact actually remove the surface heat from your body, especially if you're wet, that's how these things work

Actually I have a thing to rant about-

Screenshot 2024-05-09 at 16-25-20 Why Fans Don't Always Make Things Cooler WIRED.png

This article frames all of this like 'fans only lower the temperature of wet things and won't work on dry things' but if you look at their own fucking graph the dry paper's temperature is also decreasing. Not as fast as the wet paper over three minutes, but it's definitely going down after the fan is turned on

I did not realize there was this level of fans/temperature discourse, do these people just sit in stagnant air when it's summer out??? or do they just have extremely good central air conditioning privilege they don't realize they have

The latter, and also they're insufferable pedants who think there's some kind of concrete difference between 'cooling the temperature of a room' and 'moving the heat out of a room so the temperature of the room drops', and also there's a subspecies of argument about running fans in winter because yes doing so will average out the temperature of an enclosed space which can technically make the room warmer if you have a heater running, but counterpoint it will make the room feel colder if you're doing it while you're in it (because it's removing your body heat) and if you've got a pocket of warm air in the used part of the room it will cool off that pocket which is probably the part that you actually want to feel warmer instead of, say, the upper right corner or under a chair

Speaking of temperatures, I'm pretty sure part of Oz's problems is that the weather bothers her, but I'm not sure in what ways, exactly, nor what I can do about it if so

Doing some more translation practice with the Japanese version of Digimon World (デジモンワールド), here's notes on the startup menu

newly begin an adventure
"Start a new adventure"

Adventure's continuation do
冒険 (ぼうけん, adventure; 冒: risk, 険: precipitous, inaccessible place) の ('s, of) 続き (つづき, continuation; 続: continue, series, sequel) を (direct object) する (to do)
"Resume the adventure"

Adventure erase
冒険 (ぼうけん, adventure; 冒: risk, 険: precipitous, inaccessible place) を (direct object) 消す (けす, to erase, to cross out; 消: extinguish, blow out, turn off, neutralise, cancel)
"Delete adventure"

Memory card battle
"Memory card battle"

I learned that you can make i-adjectives into adverbs by adding く to the end of them!

Still refusing her food, still refusing her medicine, and she's getting traumatised from my trying to force everything on her. She's currently eating slices of lunch meat that I've given her out of desperation

I'd really like to get her into a different vet for multiple reasons but I can't find one that's a good option
