Leon is my spirit animal

Zebra gathers extremely rare resources to make towers out of and Katters joins anarchy servers to get mad at people in

Abraham is a creative Minecraft player and convinces Leon to play with him; he uses all of Leon's resources to make an elaborate beautiful base full of lights and complex homes

Leon tries to help decorate because he wants to impress Abraham but he is not a very creative person, so he supplies one (1) decoration and it is a single lantern that he puts on a fence post

Abraham builds around the lantern and makes a big tower

First and most importantly you are so right about the names and you should say it

GRRM was hired to write a sort of world bible for the setting hundreds of years (don't remember the exact time, but something like that) before the game happens, and then the game was made by extrapolating things that happened from GRRM's writing to the present day. So yes, he is probably responsible for many, if not most, if not all of the bullshit names, even if he's not responsible for as much as people tend to assume he is. Basically he wrote the mythology for the setting

I would kill to read his notes and hope they leak someday

That makes a lot of sense actually! I also am want to blame him for the names because one of the reasons they're bad is from an accessibility standpoint and I think that man would turn into ash before he would ever consider the accessibility needs of his readers.

ALSO I should DM you on discord so we can discuss Elden Ring endings at some point if you're willing to do so, I'm reaching the point where I'm considering what ending I want to work towards and it's hard because so many of these motherfuckers are suss as hell

like one of the reasons most people can casually keep Greek/Roman pantheon gods straight is their names do not excessively overlap, I know the difference between Zeus, Hades, Dionysus, etc. because their names aren't like ... Zeus, Zeuslin, Zeusazeus, Z the Wretched Butt-Eater---

Yeah and like, I know there's lore reasons for the names to be like that but sometimes your nifty little idea makes a story worse and you have to kill the darling

The talk of GRRM reminds me of a clip I saw once; he was being interviewed alongside another well-known writer and made the joke "how do you write so fucking fast" (I think the other writer was Stephen King who is known for being prolific) and ha ha ha but also my brother in Christ there are fanfic writers who are more dedicated to sitting down and writing than you are, at this point

I just looked and holy bananas the last A Song of Ice and Fire book was published in 2011

like obviously he's been busy with television show stuff and I see he's at least been rubber-stamping (although I doubt directly writing) a bunch of reference books and whatnot but MY DUDE

the game is much easier on the difficulty setting where I run in circles screaming while Sam and Greggo dress absurdly and do all the work

I guess to be fair, also, some of the answer to that question when asked of Stephen King, specifically, is many years of doing hard drugs

The comparison is extra amusing because King also went long enough between Dark Tower books at one point that people were getting mad at him (though in his case it was "only" about six years). He actually got off his ass to finish them when he almost died and realised he didn't have forever to be dicking around, if he wanted the story to end

I don't know a lot about GRRM as a person, but I have gotten the impression from people who do that he cares less about writing and more about getting paid, so so long as he's getting royalties from the TV shows and etc he's probably not going to get any more books out. Again though, I don't know enough to know if that's fair

I also don't, uh, care if his grimdark medieval rape fantasies ever get finished, I don't really think the world is lacking in those
