A busy and yet largely fruitless day. Woke up tired and went back to sleep, then woke up again a few hours before recording to Hopefully become More Awake. ash and I have started taking walks around the neighbourhood when he gets home from work, so we did that real quick before I had to set up to record, and in the process discovered why my keyboard had been being Weird before (somehow got switched from windows layout mode to mac layout mode) but then when we tried to actually record I discovered that I could not get audacity and discord to both accept microphone input at the same time, and in fact discord was very difficult to convince to take mic input at all. So after, I dunno, half an hour of trying to get that to work we called it off and set the session to be rescheduled.

Sor and I also rainchecked our date yesterday, partly because they're visiting their other partner but mostly because I am still probably sick -- and it's leaning more toward "sick" and less toward "syndromes" now because ash is experiencing similar symptoms, so. Yay.

Read to ash while he made dinner, then we ate dinner and watched a Smarty Pants, and then an Interview with a Vampire, and now he's gone to bed and I'm hanging out in my room. Dunno what I'm gonna do with the rest of the night, probably Not Much

So I bought ash a couple of games on steam a while back, on sale -- I guess about a month ago, because I recently started getting emails from steam of 'your friend hasn't redeemed your gift, you'll get an automatic refund in x days', which was confusing because I watched him redeem and then play the games, and then watched him attempt to redeem them again to try to prevent the refund from happening. But today I got a refund and the games were removed from his account!

Which is annoying bullshit but I sent a support ticket in to steam and they're now claiming that the playtime of those games on his account are unrelated to the gift, that he didn't redeem the gift in time, and that there's nothing they can do about the fact that i got the games on discount and they aren't on discount anymore

No worries, you are welcome to repurchase the gift at any time.

I've sent an upset reply and we'll see if that goes anywhere, but What The Fuck

Cat status update

Oz will not eat her food anywhere but on my bed, will usually not eat out of a bowl or off a plate, and does not like having too much food at once, so I've been scooping a little bit of food out of her bowl for her and leaving it out on my little portable desk on the bed. I'm also giving her half a scoop of food at a time and just refilling her bowl whenever it's empty (or close to it) -- so I have no idea how much she's eating, but I do that a couple of times a day so I think she's eating enough. She has more appetite -- signals to me that she wants more food, eagerly eats food that is properly offered -- though she does seem to still have some memory issues around things and sometimes needs to be reminded that food exists. She's also being more active, spending more time in the living room with us (though more often she hangs out in front of the front door or in the hall), and she's playing more. I do think she has some hip pain happening, I'm hopeful that that'll get better if she manages to get back to a healthy weight, though she still doesn't seem to be gaining even though she's eating.

Cael is usually sleeping around when I've been giving him lunch, so I'm not giving it to him automatically and just giving him a scoop before dinner if he signals to me that he's hungry. I've shaved a little bit of food off the top of his scoops (so not quite giving him a full scoop for each of breakfast, lunch, dinner), he hasn't noticed. I'm also trying to engage him in play twice a night for five minutes (right now it's play-with-cael, empty-dishwasher, play-with-cael, go-to-bed), because he's not being active enough on his own and I want to encourage him to do more than lay in front of various windows all day.

Both of the cats have been very chatty lately, which is nice. I like hearing them talk. They are not particularly getting along, but they're also not fighting, so I'll take that. The biggest interpersonal problem right now is Sekhmet who has it out for Oz -- even Ivy is mostly doing okay and just has to be reminded to leave Oz alone and she usually will. As far as I know, Cael is not bothering any of the other animals (save bapping Ivy when she got too into his space once, recently)

It is not in fact going to go anywhere. They're saying ash was playing the games through family share and never claimed the gifts despite my literally watching him do so multiple times

What's really getting me about all this is their claim that there's "nothing they can do" once a refund has been processed. My fucking ass there isn't, it's your god damn store. If I were some big-name streamer with the ability to tank their store's reputation they'd 100% just give the games back, I guarantee it. They're basically lying to me and that pisses me off

i am baffled by how they’re handling this. they’re acting like you’re trying to pull some scam or like i am lying to you about redeeming it. like this whole thing is us gaming the system, rather than their store having messed up. it’s really putting me off wanting to use their services.

Check out this sentence from the book I was reading ash, yesterday:

Though Danivon had sought an opportunity to talk to her about the Enforcers' life, as a prelude--he confessed to himself--to another intimate encounter, he took a close look at her shuttered face and gave up the notion.

"Though Danivon had sought an opportunity to talk to her about the Enforcers' life [] he took a close look at her shuttered face and gave up the notion."
"[as a prelude {} to another intimate encounter]"
"{he confessed to himself}"

There are so many better ways to have written that
