People are really, really bad at understanding what seasons are and it's pretty frustrating, you see those 'how many seasons x ACTUALLY has' lists that go around and it's clear they're just, attributing every minor temperature change as a season change

One 80F day does not an autumn make

The problem is that media, society, and culture have all latched onto One Specific Climate's seasons (with a bonus 'except for the southern hemisphere, where they're the same seasons but in reverse'), but that climate's seasons do not 1:1 align with, honestly most of the climates in the world

Like, most of California has two seasons: a wet season and a dry season. So trying to break that up into spring, summer, fall, and winter just doesn't quite work, and people get confused trying to force it to

But also you just, get used to 100 degree weather, so when it's dipped to 90, or even down to 80, you forget that 80F weather is still hot.

Like absolutely we're transitioning to autumn, but we're not there yet even if we try to pattern-match fall onto a chunk of our year (regardless of what meteorological seasons have to say about it)

Only kind of related but also fun is googling "don't like the weather? wait 5 minutes" and seeing how many places think it's uniquely about them
