stares into the camera like I'm on The Office

I spend twelve hours at work telling a hysterical 17-year-old mom she probably didn't kill her baby, probably, and then come home to this hell house that I have to clean and repair and pack, and my rent just came out so I get to see once more that I am paying 2400/mo for the privilege

I'm depressed and crabby all the time and like. even I'm tired of me. can we stop. can I please get off this ride

Yapped w/ Dax for about an hour and got most of the wall-scraping done, which helped with the stress levels a bit

Second time I've read a book this year and been disappointed it wasn't weirder; I'll specify since it's compared to the Virgin Suicides which I think @knightofcups is a fan of?

It sounded really promising and is a quick read but man. not weird enough. I'd give it two stars if I still did star ratings, it just ended up being Misogyny Is Bad which like yes but are you going to turn into dogs about it or not???

I will call out a book I read earlier this year that was as weird as I wanted, perhaps moreso, and I looooooooooved

like just look at the cover

anyway, I recommend that one, I do not recommend The Hounding and I definitely don't recommend that book I ranted about where the lesbian witches were set up to live happily ever after and one just jumps off a cliff because that's what lesbians do when they're in love

to be fair this is what it felt like, emotionally, to be in a relationship with Sophie, but then I broke up with her and kicked her out of my apartment so like.

toxic yuri (when one-sided, anyways -- in fiction I can appreciate a freak4freak situation) is more than a little bit not my jam

re: witchery books, I think my issue is often these type of books end up being big and metaphorical about how womanhood and/or women making their own choices are treated as aberrant and dangerous, which I understand being a major theme of that type of story, but at the point I'm at in my life I want the girls to all turn into dogs (if they so choose) and tear the men apart with their real and not-metaphorical teeth. you feel me?

I'm also at a point in my life where I'm more in tune with my own gender, which did involve some level of having to trans said gender, and I think I crave the idea of transforming but still being yourself (in my particular case, still a woman or at least still a she/her) and it not necessarily being a big safe metaphor

like naw man, rip that dude's throat out with the fangs you bought and purchased with your own blood
