Class today! A bunch of people were saying they weren't going to show up because halloween but we honestly had about the same number of students as we usually do. We did some listening practice with her asking us some questions and us answering them, then we did some reading practice with a fake diary entry and a thank you letter, in the textbook. That took us through most of the day, and she wrapped it up with having us pretend to order food from each other at a fast-food restaurant. She ended up calling on me to do that first, so after that I turned my camera off and kind of half paid attention to class and half got ready to hang out with ash and wait for trick-or-treaters.

Some students were wearing costumes, including one person in a full cosplay with a fake zoom background, and apparently Disruptive Student DMed him to ask to talk over instagram and/or play video games together. Which, uh, dude. But also a bunch of people read that as Disruptive Student trying to hit on that student because he was thirsty for the cosplay but it honestly read to me as simply that Disruptive Student was like, 'oh you are also a nerd maybe we can be friends'. Unfortunately this is one of the students who was super fed up with Disruptive Student during that last conflict, so.

Also also man has he been assuming that none of the other students in the intermediate Japanese class are weebs?? Is he surprised someone in class cosplays??

Also also also a lot of talk in the chat today, even outside the DMs.

Anyway. No trick-or-treaters this year, and also none of the other houses on the street decorated. Bit of a bummer! ash and I ate dinner (tacos) and watched the new Helluva Boss, and then we played some Cult of the Lamb together. He's got a save on my game now with his own little cult. We just unlocked the temple and then he stopped playing to go to bed, so tomorrow we'll play some more and do some crusades. Meanwhile I'm gonna continue playing on my own, natch.

Dad's tomorrow, and I want to get to bed a little early tonight and hopefully get some more rest. I have three pages of homework again, I think, plus the kanji quiz and the chapter quiz. Not super stressed about that since the chapter content has been pretty easy but of course I'll want to review it all before taking the test.

Okay! Well! Obviously, some stuff has happened!

For a start, the forums have been updated! Ideally there's not really any noticeable changes, aside (hopefully!) from letting people other than me stay logged in for longer than a day. We'll see if that pans out.

The search also functions properly now, but I don't know if anyone but me ever noticed that it wasn't.

Had class a couple times while the site was down, I don't think anything super notable happened (except that one of the questions we had to answer on Tuesday was 'Who is the best student in the class' and the person tasked with answering it said me, so, you know. Getting a good grade in getting good grades). Disruptive Student continues to disrupt, but today he left class an hour in and coincidentally we finished up and got let out of class twenty minutes early.

We also learned three grammar points (we usually cover two) -- the possessive marker as a pronoun ("This bag is mine"1 instead of "This bag is my bag"2, "Japanese cars are cheaper than German ones"3 instead of "Japanese cars are cheaper than German cars"4, etc); how to say you intend to do something (or don't intend to do it) (今晩、宿題をしないつもりです); and a verb for changing states (寒くなりました). Three pages of homework to do but I'm not stressed, this is easy stuff.

Oh I think today is when dad's, uh, sentence, started. I hope he's okay.

I looked into classes for next semester and as I thought, the next Japanese class isn't available in Spring, just the one after that, so I'll have to take that next year. There is an Intro to Linguistics class available, though it's only available as in person or asynchronous online, which. Bleh. It's an evening class so I might be able to take the in person, depending on how I feel about wearing a mask the whole time, or I might just do it async.

There is the elephant in the room that's going to end up in the white house (again), and I of course have thoughts about all that, but I think I'm going to leave them be for now.

I've still been playing Cult of the Lamb but I'm getting suuuper annoyed with the limited build space, and also I just haven't had the brain for that kind of management for a couple days. Last night I fired up Digimon World for a bit and was very proud of how much of the Japanese I could read! Not, like, all of it but a pretty decent chunk! Dave and I have continued our Stardewing, it's winter now and I've sold off my pigs and put away my bee houses. On Wednesday, he, Erika and I played some PlateUp!, with a mod that lets you kill customers and turn them into meat to make hamburgers and pies. In our game we got the meat pies card like, immediately, and then I tried to get it again in a solo game for hours and just could not get it to pop again so it must be a little rare to get. But we're going to continue that restaurant when we're able to get together again for an evening.

ash and I have started our evening walks again, or at least we're trying to. It gets dark at 6, now, so it's pitch black by the time I'm out of class and that itself would not super be a problem except that ash gets the SADs and doesn't have the energy that late into the day.

I need to get to a shoe store and get some season-appropriate walking shoes since the soles fell off my current pair over the summer. I also need to get to a store and get some groceries, I've just been, uh, not having breakfast for a while. Dad gave me some money, so I can afford it now despite throwing All of my monthly money at keeping Oz's vet bill from getting any worse, I just need the energy (and the shoes) to get to the store.

Speaking of vets, Cael had his checkup and has been diagnosed with 'mildly overweight' but otherwise healthy. So he's on a little bit more of a diet to try to get his weight down a bit. He is a little over 16 and a half pounds right now. I did ask about his energy levels and the vet didn't hear a heart murmur or anything so isn't concerned, said he's probably just kind of a lazy boy.

I think that's the recent broad strokes. I'll cut it off here and get back to more regular posting

It’s only named this because “This is Not a Cult It Is Objective Truth” was too long

Spent most of today waiting around for a phone call that never happened. It concerns my prescription so, uh. That's gonna need to get sorted. Very annoyed that they just, didn't call me, and worried that they had me down for an in-person appointment despite confirming eleven thousand times that it was a phone appointment.

When I gave up on waiting for that I played ESO with Erika for about an hour. We did one run of the Infinite Archive and successfully beat the final boss of it (again). It was fun, even though I'm out of practice and don't remember half of the controls. I still need to figure out how I have dodging set up.

After that I emptied the dishwasher before/while ash was getting home, and then we took a walk around the block with Ivy. It was very nice out.

When we got back, ash made dinner and I put together a furniture he'd bought for him. Then we ate spaghetti and watched Taskmaster, and then we played Cult of the Lamb until he went to bed. We got the first eye, and did some rearranging of his village.

I just finished my homework a few minutes ago, as predicted it was easy stuff though by the end of filling it out I got kind of braindead. Hopefully there are no stupid mistakes on it, but it's out of my hands now because I refuse to look at it again.

Gonna watch a youtube and eat more dinner and then I'll just chill for a while until I go to bed. ash and I are going to play a board game tomorrow but we otherwise don't really have any plans for this weekend.

ボードゲームをするつもりでしたが、アッシュさんは少し元気じゃないから、その代わり僕達ビデオゲームをします。

(We were going to play board games, but ash is feeling a little unwell, so we'll play video games instead.)

I did in fact make a stupid mistake, because despite telling myself that I needed to check if きれい was an i- or na-adjective and being pretty sure that it was a na-adjective, I still forgot to put the な after it in one of the sentences

Didn't get marked off for it and I think under the circumstances it's pretty understandable, but I am getting pretty annoyed with myself for forgetting moras so often. It feels dyslexia-related but I don't know what I can do about it
