I've carried around my childhood Pokemon cards for ages now -- I have them in sleeves, probably about 100 cards in very good condition, ranging from just sorta junk trainer cards to a few holos. I checked some of my holos at one point to see if I had the Golden Ticket that would buy me a house because it's so amazingly rare and, of course, did not (I think the highest one I saw was like $30 which is notable for a piece of cardboard, but still). For years I've told myself I'm going to sell them, and even toyed with the idea of selling a few singles on eBay and shipping them myself, but

man

I just don't wanna deal with all that, and I would rather perish than go into a card store and speak with a Card Man. That's always been the main thing to put me off, I really dislike that slice of hobby space and lately I've been choosing violence so if a Card Man says something off-putting to me I am simply going to crush his testicles in a vice grip.

I got the idea to check if the children's library might want them, and they do!

I'm going to drop them off next week and feel very good about the decision. Every move and every spring cleaning I tell myself I'm gonna do something about the Pokemon cards -- I don't play, I already picked out my favorites to keep for nostalgia/display, and I already picked out the Bulbasaurs to send to @knightofcups. So knowing it will go to some kids to actually play with makes me much happier than seeing it take up space in my home for no reason.

And I didn't even have to crush someone's testicles in a vice grip!

The idea of calling Leon, who is I think my tallest human character by a large margin, a physically inferior whelp, is extremely funny to me

I've been in a video essay watching mood for a bit and it's made me fully realize that my disconnect between:

• what I expected of Sophie/what she portrayed herself as

• Actual Sophie

was fueled in no small part by her desire to be an influencer on social media.

She DOES act different when she is not performing for a camera, she DOES aspire to an aesthetic lesbian housewife life where she doesn't work and only does whimsical cozy housework things -- but only in the sense that she wants to film it and show it to strangers. She would film herself cleaning one tile of the kitchen with one of those drill scrubbers, then stop cleaning (and lose my goddamn drill battery, somehow, and not replace it) as soon as the TikTok was made. She would film herself in my room while I was at work, without my knowledge or permission, steaming one of my shirts and filming it as if that was a thing she did for me all the time and not an invasion of my privacy (and just, a lie, she did not steam my shirts???? or do my laundry???). We would go on a walk and she would want to stop and film herself going on a cozy witchtok night walk with her girlfriend, but then give me the silent treatment when, on that same walk, I told her I didn't think we were ready to buy a house together.

It's sad or whatever but it was also fucking maddening because what do you mean I'm just part of your made-up life you show to strangers
