Maybe they could just immediately go bankrupt. The one billionth dollar is the one that breaks the camel's back. It all just vanishes, immediately redistributed into everyone else's bank accounts.

I like this, because you /know/ you’d get people pushing their luck because they can totally get /closer/ to a billion without going over, and then they would E X P L O D E and it would be funny

Exactly. You'd get a bunch of 'I know every other billionaire has exploded but surely that won't happen to me because I'm the specialest little b-- [-pop-]'

Well damn, the USB drive I've been keeping my writing on has died. Luckily I just recently backed everything on it up to dropbox, but that's still very annoying. It's not that old, and replacing USB sticks is so annoying these days with all the counterfeit drives on the market.

Re: Promiseland
Spent today largely hopping back and forth between linguistics classwork and Japanese study, and doing exercise to train my digimon (currently a Palmon). A couple of hours ago I also hopped into Icarus because Dave was in there and I wanted to science something -- for some reason my computer still seems to be getting treated like the "host" when I'm the first one into the game, despite running on a dedicated server. That seems to mostly get fixed if I'm not, though more science would be needed to be sure. But Dave and I explored a small cave without my framerate getting bogged down by all the nodes, and I also made an upgraded fishing rod and did a bit of fishing. Unfortunately near the end of the session we got hit by bears and a flash storm at the same time which resulted in our entire house getting burned down, which was a bummer because I'd worked pretty hard on it! The fire killed my framerate entirely so I was unable to help put it out which was especially frustrating, and I ended up just closing out of the game entirely rather than sit there waiting for my frames to come back. When I did log back in I asked Dave if he would be up for moving to a new base rather than trying to rebuild our current one, so tomorrow when we do our Tuesdaily gaming together we're gonna go on an adventure to find someplace else to settle down for a while. And then I logged off for the night, because the whole situation bummed me out pretty thoroughly.
Not sure what I'll do with the rest of my night. Generally just kind of not doing great emotionally, even before my digital house burning down.

Re: Promiseland
ash and I watched Taskmaster during dinner, then a couple youtubes, and then he went to bed and I went to my room. I was starting to get a migraine, so I let Dave know I probably wouldn't be able to game with him tonight after all, and then I spent some time in a disassociative fugue. A bunch of popcap games are on sale for a dollar, though, so I grabbed Insaniquarium and Chuzzle and played some of those.
Need to go to sleep. Games with Erika and Dave tomorrow, probably more Phasmaphobia or Core Keeper.

Re: Promiseland
I've been mulling over a story with Katters and Zebra in Kuris but I cannot for the life of me come up with a reason for them to be there. Katters in particular would never willingly go, which is part of why making her is so appealing, so I need something to force her. And Zebra would have no strong feelings on the subject either way.
I can't get anywhere without that piece because without a motivation to drive their interactions it all just fizzles. And I need not only a reason for them to go to Kuris but also to force them to visit multiple places in Kuris (so not just, visit the port down and then head right back home).
Will continue thinking.
