I decided I deserved an expensive treat and finally, after many years, pulled the trigger and ordered a Nintendo Switch (+pink carrying case)

It won't get here for a few days but I'm hype

I asked for game recommendations in a couple of places and boy have I spontaneously realized I am aggressively uninterested in Pokemon now!

I definitely wanna snag Pokemon Snap and I'd be interested in giving Mystery Dungeon a spin, but I think the desire to catch 'em all is completely gone from my body

You run windows, yes? If so then this is a program that will automatically time how long you spend in certain windows -- so you can fire it up, set it to track your writing program, and then just forget about it and it'll tell you how long you've spent writing. The webpage frames it as a 'productivity tracker' that 'judges you for not working' which is a little gross, but it works just as well as just a little widget that times your workflow

(It is probably trivial to remove the colour change and/or title-bar change, and I could try to do that for you if you wanted)

Also, switch!! You should 110% get the latest Animal Crossing and hang out on my and @KnightOfCups's islands and invite us to hang out on your island! I think you would have a lot of fun with the fashion elements especially!

I don't know if you had any interest in Journey way back when, but the people who made it also made Sky: Children of the Light, which I believe is free on switch? And think you'd like that. You'd also probably enjoy the Zelda: Link's Awakening remake, if you never played the original (or even if you did!), I think it's your cup of tea

My main recommendation though is to browse the free games every one in a while in the store, there are some gems in there and I don't think very many people think to do that

oh man I didn't register it was a tumblr post at first and I thought the website was the program and went "UM" out loud lmao

I will give that a spin! I think my first attempt is going to be after I've walked Baby and then sat down at the computer to drink my coffeedrank, to immediately set a 30 minute timer and use that time to write. We'll see how I do with that and then troubleshoot from there! Weirdly my bad brain makes me ... good brain??? at routines???? if very badly disrupted when I don't have access to them, but it does take me some finagling to figure out what can actually be integrated into my day-to-day. So I'll start implementing Plan A on my Monday and see how it do!

And thanks for the suggestions! I'm definitely interested in perusing the Zelda catalogue because I've honestly only played Majora's Mask, Ocarina, and then the Oracle of Seasons/Ages GBA games from back when. I never played Journey but eternally wanted to, iirc it was a Playstation exclusive and by the time I had access to play it I just never got around to it, RIP.

Yesterday I had my follow-up appointment re: recent medical trubs and got the all-clear, which is good! I intend to celebrate later by going on a run for the first time in almost a week, which I'm hype about. I also finally dropped off the donations that had been hanging out in my car! Today my goals are mostly aforementioned run, laundry, annnnnd I think that's it, honestly. D&D later. Video games and chilling, otherwise.

Oh, I also did A Project yesterday!

For ages now I've lugged around three binders full of playbills, ticket stubs, etc. from my years of doing theatre and while I was a miserable and fidgety invalid I decided to sort through them. I ended up being able to easily toss half of it -- Teenage Erika kept everything, as hyperfixated kids from Trauma Households tend to do, and that included duplicates and also playbills that were just stacks of ads and didn't even have the show listed on the front. And, honestly, there were some I just hucked because I did not feel obligated to remember them that intently. Like, yeah, I did see To Kill a Mockingbird at FTCC many years ago, I think it was alright. I'm fine with the memory just coming up of its own accord, if it ever does, you know? I don't need a souvenir for it.

Of the ones I kept (which was honestly just my favorites or impactful shows), I spontaneously decided to arrange them and put them on the wall!

I'm really happy with how it turned out; I honestly didn't mind lugging around the binders, but this way I get to see a thing that makes me happy. I have a few extras that didn't fit and I'm keeping those to do another collage in the future, which has the bonus effect of making keeping the thing feel purposeful and satisfying.

(also yeah the Vagina Monologues ticket stub is a little crooked but I decided I didn't care enough to take the whole thing out and fix it, at some point Future Erika will deal with it lmao)

also The Full Monty genuinely is a delightful and surprisingly heartfelt show about toxic masculinity and learning to love yourself, if you ever get the chance to see it absolutely jump on the opportunity
