The English alphabet does not always do a good job using signs to represent sounds. For example <x> in the word box sounds like [ks]. In fact, the <x> usually only sounds like [x] when the the letter <e> proceeds it: exam, explain, extravagate, and so on.

Took and aced the reading quiz without actually doing the reading, still need to write up a discussion post but I'll do that later tonight when I'm hopefully less tired. I just went out and put up the temporary replacement fence -- measurements were a little off so it's not covering the entire space but it's good enough for right now. That was a lot of physical work in the sun so now I'm gonna uhhhhhh watch youtube for a while

Needs some tweaking but it looks alright and hopefully doesn't collapse on us.

Gorgeous weather today, which unfortunately means I slept through most of it -- I really wish that didn't happen because I would love to be able to take full advantage of the few sub-80 days in late spring/early summer (or late summer/early fall) but it is what it is.

I did get the new rose in the ground! The sprinklers have been running on schedule, so it wasn't too difficult to get the hole dug until I reached a layer of clay, but even after that it didn't take too long. Tomorrow I'm going to get fertiliser on everything, but today I am done and have done Enough.

I wanted to get the bike to the repair place for a tuneup tomorrow (I actually wanted to do it today but didn't end up being able to, and did the rose instead) but I think I probably will just put that off again and just take the bike as-is to dad's on Friday. Tomorrow I will take a down day so I can do the Friday ride easier.

Used my wrists a lot in digging so typing is a little rough right now, so I'm gonna end this post here.

Crashed my bike!

Kind of a rough day before I even left, honestly. Slept too hard and my neck and shoulder are stiff, then google tried to send me down another gravel access road so I detoured for a bit to find the actual entrance to the actual bike path. Then I missed my turn onto the bridge and didn't notice until I was like half an hour away from it, and on top of all that the battery on my bike was dying -- but that was probably a good thing because it meant when I crashed I was only going ten, twelve miles an hour.

So the bike path is kind of raised, with gravel shoulders on either side. My front tire slipped off the edge of the path, I lost control and went down. Luckily I was wearing jeans and a hoodie, so while my shins and elbows got bruised they didn't get scraped, and just my left hand got all torn up. I also bonked the visor on my helmet against the road, which definitely saved me from bonking my head against the road but means I'll need to keep an eye on myself for signs of a concussion.

Three people stopped to make sure I was okay, but none of them had a hex wrench for me to tighten my handlebars back into place, so I called dad to let him know I wasn't going to make it (but that I was okay), then texted ash to ask if he could pick me up at a place that wasn't dad's house, and walked the bike the remaining 20 minutes to the bridge, where I was able to get to a street and hang out for a bit over an hour while waiting for ash to come get me.

Got home and cleaned myself up, and bandaged a couple of the prone-to-start-bleeding-again scrapes, but I am fine. Nothing seems to be broken (or dislocated), it definitely could have been a lot worse. Hand stings, but overall pain levels ain't nothin'. Tell you what, though, I'm not riding the bike again for a hot second and I'm definitely getting it to the repair shop to take a look at it before I take it out anywhere else.

Here's my recommendation, is if you're going to crash don't do it on an empty stomach
