Not! The (probably) wax prop! I want the real deal! I want Willy Wonka's edible teacup flower, not Gene Wilder's!

Aaaand the forums are back!

Up late last night getting Oz to eat, then Erik talking on the phone (or computer or whatever) woke me up too early, so not as rested as I'd like to be. Did just have my by-phone doctor's appointment to get my medication refilled; she wants me to get bloodwork done, so I have an appointment for that this coming tuesday. Historically there has been confusion over whether or not my insurance covers that so hopefully I can afford it, I will bring my emergency bike funds with me just in case.

Speaking of bike, I do want to bring it up to the bike repair place and finally get it looked at, and get a tire repair kit while I'm there. Tomorrow I'm going over to dad's house and hopefully! I will make it all the way there this time.

I have successfully visited the local bike repair place and it was very nice! The man did not charge me for a full tune-up but also didn't really do one, just looked it over and took care of what he deemed tune-worthy. When I said I didn't know very much about bikes he noticeably started explaining things that one would reasonably consider "obvious" like 'you can mount this on your water-bottle mount, here' and 'you should check your tire pressure every month'

I did notice that they don't have any bike parking in front of their place which is weird but not out of the ordinary for this area, unfortunately

So, got the front wheel adjusted (one of the break-pads was rubbing against it, apparently, which could be what was 'weird'-feeling about riding it) and otherwise it has been deemed good to ride. Bought stuff to patch and reinflate tires if necessary, and all-told it cost me about $90, which was much less than I was expecting. Glad this is my local place, I feel good about making it my regular.

Over a couple-few days here I listened to Camp Here & There, a Wacky podcast about a summer camp where things happen like penguin attacks and mercury rain and where the food is always things like "cotton soup", "a smattering of smooth stones", and "grilled pineapples with tabasco sauce". It is very, very clearly inspired by Welcome to Nightvale, down to the way episodes are framed and laid out. It is interesting, not super my thing, which is why I was able to listen to it, because I knew it wasn't going to be anything significant or anything for me.

I listened to it because a song I really like has turned out to have been made for the soundtrack for the show, and I was curious about the character whose theme is that song (the character is nothing to write home about), but as I started digging into the show a little I have discovered that the making of the show is much more interesting than the show itself, though hard to find details on. Which is fine, because they're the sort of details that are none of my business unless one of the people involved wants to make it the internet-at-large's business, but the short of it is that the two creators behind the show have apparently had some kind of falling out, and one of them has said that he wants out of the show and to never have anything to do with it anymore -- and, it seems, has broken up with the other creator, romantically (I think?) in the process. This is a major problem for the show because he was the voice for the deuteragonist and had a lot of very important plot points hinging on him, and the finale actually wraps up one of those plots by... having the protagonist and deuteragonist have a heartfelt conversation about how they're going to spend more time together and be more open with each other and communicate more, and also makes their relationship Official. Awkward!

The splitting of ways happened a few years ago, now, and the second season of the show has not happened, both for the above and for the other writer who is sticking around, experiencing some other awful life events. The patreon is stuff from 2022, including 'Hey since the guy who's left has his name in the company name, I need to change that, what do y'all think of this option?' (change has not happened) and audition reels for recasting that character, and then in April a post that also went on the main website about 'I'm sorry I haven't had anything for you in a while, here is what has been happening, I promise I'm still working on the show', and then in June a "teaser script" -- so, you know, doesn't look to be dead dead, but jeez. Definitely an uphill climb, and I wish that creator the best and hope the second season goes and goes well.

Oh, and their twitter has also gone private

Holy shit Camp Here & There is updating again

Went to dad's! Plan was to come back with another screen and my and/or mom's old sewing kits, failed on both counts. The screen I want is too big to fit in ash's car, so either Erik is going to take his (bigger) car to go get it or Des is going to pick it up and drop it off in her truck. And the sewing kits weren't in the obvious place and we didn't really look anywhere else for them, I might put more effort into it a different time.

The ride there was murder, it was 90-something when I left and got up above 100 by this evening; I didn't eat enough before I left; my seat is really uncomfortable for longer rides and my ass and crotch were going numb from sitting on it; the power/motor on my bike was being very strange, I hope just because of the heat, and I'll be sure not to take it out when it's this hot again. I ended up a little sunburned.

But the route I took was itself largely easy and uneventful. It did take me up a very busy street that I in particular do not trust cars on (I used to walk it really regularly, cars do not respect your space on the shoulder and they all go a thousand miles per hour) so I might adjust that leg, but the getting on to the bike path is a solved problem now.

So dad and I hung out for, oh, it was about two hours, going through more of the storage and by the end trading jokes back and forth. My mask did fly out of my bag at some point, I guess, because it was gone by the time I got there, so hopefully neither of us got the other sick.

At home, ash and I played phone games together for a bit and then more 9992 -- for the past couple of play sessions we have had 0 puzzles to solve, just cutscenes. But plot is happen! Now ash is bed and I am, hang out in my room. Video games? Probably.

I'm pretty tired, and it's very hot still (87 outside despite it being 9 at night). Might just zone out for a while.

I don't think I've ever realised before that "Mad Libs" is a pun on "ad-lib"
