Oh also here is a map of the train lines (after last week's game, so before Scenic Route was made). The pink string is the tracks (the green is Dave's conveyor belts)

Annoyingly, the game doesn't show any of this on the map in-game, so while I'm laying stuff out I don't really have any way of double-checking where existing lines are except by physically running over to them and looking at them with my eyeballs

Relay update:

I sent it four hours ago before passing out for a couple hours before work, but to update everyone, the final passing of the torch has occurred.

\o/!

Now the host does the final translation and compiles everything into a post!

Behold! The first good picture I've taken with the new camera!

Fun fact on that picture: I forgot to turn the camera on before I took it, so I had to take another picture over it to get the film to eject, which means there's a liiiiittle bit of ghosting

Did some extra Satisfactory tonight with Dave -- smoothed out all my rail lines, redid the block paths (wanted to try figuring out pathing signals again but forgot before I started another project), and connected Rad/Less Rad City and Gasland in ways that bypass Grand Central to help train routes. Also made another train, Midnight, that has a genuinely randomly generated route, so now Midnight & Train go anywhere, but in very different ways

(I did this because Dave made a comment about wanting to rename Train to Midnight Train (that goes anywhere), but I like "Train" and also why rename a train when you can make More Trains?)

I want to get a station southeast of Scenic Route somewhere to continue enabling more direct routes, but that might be a tick

Relay is done and posted! This is the whole thing, and I got a personal callout:

Also, a special honorable mention to Fetian, who managed to interpret the nonsense that had come about by the end of round 9 as a cohesive story about a lonely spider's triumph against adversity.

Compare the English translation from the person before me to my initial translation:

The pile of food had your name. His familiar opinion to me. The people had prepared. Eight roots, whereby all people quickly had breathed the pile’s air harshly, it had taken hold of the holy tree. It didn’t stop at that layer. I had smelled my food that was at the holy artificial place. The forbidden tree’s fruit spoke well to me. The fruits made one strong.
I had smelled the food that I want to climb to the top because of the smell. I put the clothing at the head to work, and we started climbing to the top of the mountain’s step’s net.
I was fine that the clothing got interwoven towards the net. I covered the clothed bare fruit without working something to hide the tree’s fruit. The people had seen him, thus hide! The people cooked them with the clothed big constructed place, thus he muchly whitened because of the holy tree.

Food-heap is your name. Its opinion is regarded, recognizably. Creature has prepared (TAM instance). Everyone smells at once, 8 roots that support the holy tree. That place’s side isn’t stopped at. The holy temple can be smelled by me, my food. By my name, none shall interact with the tree's fruit. The fruit-that-strengthens.

I can smell, I climb, because the food breathes. Raise clothes to head for work then the climber begins to be raised up the mountain-side’s webbing.

Passage is prevented by my clothes tangling the web. Diligently the tree-fruit are covered in cloth. Creature can see (TAM instance), so hide. My cloths mix with great-structure, turning the holy tree white.

Not fuckin' bad if I do say so myself

Here's the relevance, is that they aren't stopping to think about what this sentence means. It's grammatical, but is it coherent. What does it mean for a monkey to be doglike? Is the monkey inherently doglike or is it doglike in the way it's climbing the tree? How relevant is it that the monkey is climbing any tree and not a tree, or the tree? How does this sentence fit into the greater text, what is it doing there? They are translating the text, but they are not understanding it, they're not reading it.

I don't have a greater point on that, it's just something that I'm observing, especially as I've gotten to that point in my translation and gotten sentences like "Its opinion is regarded, recognisably". But I can't tell you what that means yet or why it's in the passage -- I'm about to go over it and attempt to actually translate it into coherent English. But I could, if I were a lesser man, simply translate it part by part into "it-possessive", "opinion", "regard (verb)", "recognise (adjective)", and send it off into the wild.

And like.

Tracking a single line:

If you want sweeter applesauce, you will also need one-half cup (100 grams) of sugar.

If you want to make your porridge sweeter, then you will also need a handful of sweetroot paste.

My porridge is sweet and warm;

My food smells like the Sun;

My food smelled like it was in heaven.

The fruit of the tree negatively affected my language.

The fruits of the yohimbe tree placed in pain my fluency.

The forbidden tree’s fruit spoke well to me.

By my name, I shall take the forbidden fruit.

I say: I will not allow the tree food to be taken.

But I, the spider, say to you now: ‘I will not allow the tree to give you food any longer.’

Was going to take Oz to the vet yesterday (I had a coupon for a free wellness exam for her) but decided to cancel it, because she's been doing very well lately and I don't want to stress her out and cause her to backslide. Of course now I worry that was the wrong choice

And ash and I were going to go out today but also decided against that due in equal parts to heat and migraine (ash, not me).

So not a lot done this weekend. I've been watching Downton Abbey and doing various research into working as a servant in a manor, for the R&DM game that's been backburnered for a while due to not having enough information to continue it.

I'm looking forward to getting some household stuff done tomorrow if I can manage to be awake for it -- sleep has continued to be an issue, also in part due to heat. This weekend has been triple digits, and it is cooling off at night but not as much as one would like. This week is supposed to gradually cool down until Friday (88), when it starts heating back up again.
