A while back I made an argonian necromancer and I spent a Long time trying to come up with a lore-compliant name that I liked. I ended up settling on Dyreethus Xulbeeko and I honestly hated it, but I couldn't come up with anything better so I ran with it

'Xulbeeko' ("death-friend" in Argonian (Jel)) grew on me but Dyreethus didn't, and I don't even remember how I came up with it. I ended up deciding last night that I like 'Deek' for the character, even though it's a word in Jel that means 'youth'. I went with it anyway, figuring it's a nickname he goes by. He's just a little guy (he is not).

So I spent a renaming token on that, and I also spent an appearance change token on tweaking how he looks

I also, unrelated to all that, got the controls for his abilities slotted in a way that makes sense to my brain, so now I can get into a rhythm playing him. Healers are so much more complicated than DPS! I have to pay attention to so much, there are so many variables in what ability I need to use when. Ivqei I hit her buffs before the fight starts, I teleport to an enemy, and I toggle between two attacks until they're dead. If I notice they're close to death I hit a finisher. Then I teleport to the next enemy. Deek I have to pay attention to my summon, and my AOE, and my buffs/debuffs, and my companions' health, and my magicka, and my health,,,

I am having a lot of fun though and apparently am not terrible at playing support? I'm farming for an armor set so I'm sort of drifting between delve and world bosses, and before I logged off I happened to arrive at a world boss with one other person in the middle of fighting it, so I jumped in. It took us a god damn year but we beat it just the two of us and I kept us both alive! Very exciting but man I would not want to make a habit of taking world bosses on as only a pair of players.

I'm hoping if I get on during the day later that there will be more people doing the bosses. I normally prefer to play in the middle of the night so there aren't a bunch of randos running around but I'll make an exception for this

Alright. Sleep!

Oh also a couple days ago I fuckin accidentally deleted my custom-UI-mod settings again so I went through a whole thing of getting that exactly the way I want it and also getting several other mods finally set up properly and several other mods and old dependencies uninstalled. It's kind of tragic how many must-have mods are hanging on by a thread because the people maintaining them have disappeared

That's the main reason I hadn't been playing on my second character, honestly, is I didn't want to have to set the mods up over there after already getting them set up on Ivqei -- truly weird how much in ESO's settings are character-dependent instead of account-wide, if I want subtitles on one character I probably need it on every other character I play--

Anyway at least the UI mod is now properly set to be account-wide and I will hopefully never have to touch the profile options on it again, but I also have been taking screenshots of the settings for it, so. I honestly think the way I have that set up is objectively correct and cannot imagine playing with the default HUD, if the mod ever stops working outright and no one steps up to replace it I will very likely just stop playing ESO

Alright. Actually sleep.

I love how argonians can change their "hair"-style like any other race. 'Yeah I decided to cut my spikes off and grow fins. Just needed a change, you know'

Honestly with the kind of shit the hist does for them they probably can canonically do that

What I don't like is how they wear earrings on their jaw hinge

Did in fact play ESO all day -- and I did get enough set items to get the set bonus, that I was farming, though I had wanted the restoration staff that can drop and didn't have any luck with it.

It got Very hot again today but started cooling off around 8, so I was able to open up and hopefully can get the temperature down before 3 tonight. I also went out and did some watering -- my orange rose is not doing well and I might need to transplant it, I don't think it's getting enough sun. That bodes poorly for that flowerbed in general if so and I may need to negotiate different places for my collection to grow. I think the second tree we let grow over there will need to go, to start with, before it becomes a problem for the roses that aren't having issues yet.

Things to mull over.

After I watered I put my legs in the pool to rinse off any hitchhiking critters that might have crawled onto me -- the lawn has gotten a bit wild. The pool water was very nice, even though it was cooling off in general. Now I'm hardboiling some eggs to eat -- or rather I have hardboiled some eggs, and they're in the freezer to chill. When I'm done being up-and-down for a while I'll jump back into ESO until bed

Welp, while the temperature dropped earlier in the evening than expected, it did not drop as much as expected, so it took even longer to cool my room off than it did last night

You know the thing where you start saying something ironically to make fun of it but then over time you lose the irony and now you're just saying it

Mine is telling people that Cake is from Sacramento

I'm not like, authentically trying to inform people of this or brag about it or anything, it's more like a vocal stim, a kneejerk whenever Cake comes up in conversation. You know, they're from Sacramento

'What was it making fun of'

'Cake is from Sacramento' is the #1 trivia Sacramentans have about Sacramento, that comes out in any 'give me trivia about your city' sort of context, and Cake is such a barely relevant band that it's really funny to me. Like I like Cake but it gives peaked-in-high-school vibes

So in certain circles it gets brought up ironically to other Sacramentans because of course everyone present already knows Cake is from Sacramento

But 'Cake is from Sacramento' is the same reflex for me as 'They're made by Ford now' (reference to a movie no one has seen unless I made them watch it)

This is not unrelated to one of my favourite joke formats, of overexplaining the obvious

Why do christians always gotta make everything about being christian. Like I don't care what you get up to behind the closed doors of your church but don't shove it down my throat
