Meanwhile I'm looking at both of those and trying to figure out which one is the new Star Trek people are so into. (Strange New Worlds, I think)

I have played quite a bit of Outer Worlds and still mix up calling it Outer Wilds! I do enjoy Outer Worlds and recommend it, although it's a game I think you have to be in the mood for (to my knowledge made by a lot of the Fallout: New Vegas people and leans into capitalist dystopia all the way, which imho it does great but is definitely a specific Flavor).

oh and one of the companions is canonically sapphic and ace!! I was very excited by that, super not common to see a canonically asexual character, especially one that just Doesn't Wanna Do Sex vs. has a trauma, which can get icky in terms of people equating sexual preference with traumatic experiences and just blehhhhhh

anyways I'm yapping, let me know how Outer Wilds is because I have not played it at all

Oh that's awesome, re asexual sapphic character! I can't imagine that's an easy one to include in a bigger budget title because there's so many people that don't get that you can be ace and also have attractions to people

Outer Wilds also turns out to be one that you need to be in a specific mood to play it, I think -- it is an exploration-heavy game but the process of exploration is a little bit frustrating and the game is at once very forgiving and very punishing of failure, because when you die you just respawn back at the beginning of the game, which, like, technically you don't lose any progress because you still have all the knowledge you gained exploring and all of the hints for other places to explore still unlocked, so that's awesome! But also you are completely starting over in terms of getting to anyplace and it is so, so easy to die in space. But it's interesting and I was enjoying it, it feels very No Man's Sky but smaller and more populated

What I need to do today:
-Homework -- I think I have like one page due this week, but I haven't even looked at it yet and I should at least do that
-Laundry
-See how the patio looks and probably spray off the edges of it
-Tear down the temporary garden fencing and put the permanent garden fencing up

What I want to do today:
-Nothing forever

What I have done:
-Looked at homework, I have three workbook pages in one assignment and need to read an article about how different regions say "McDonald's" in Japanese and vote on which way I prefer
-Two loads of laundry (so far)
-Put up the gate part of the new fence, it still needs some adjustment but it'll work for now
-Tore down a bunch of the morning glory vines that have been taking over our yard

-Played Silent Hill F

It's been raining off and on all night, since about 5 in the evening. Pretty heavy rain at times, too, and I even saw some lightning out my door, though I didn't hear any thunder. It's nice! It also was about ten degrees cooler here in the afternoon than it was up north where ash and Erik were working, which was nice for me because I could do some yard work and nice for them to get to come home to a cooler house.

Satisfactory with Dave! Despite some weird technical issues -- first Dave's audio was garbage (likely because he was using up too much bandwidth on other computer things), then my internet started going out but only on my computer (I ended up turning my phone into a hotspot to just use that data so our call would stop dropping mid-conversation), and then my controllers stopped talking to the steamdeck and I had to turn the bluetooth off and on again -- it was a very good session! Got a fair amount done with very little problems. The west leg is completely done, and I got a good chunk of the conveyors on the east leg done before moving on to making an East Skybridge station and painting it and the surrounding architecture blue. I then connected that station to the rest of the rail lines, and got killed a few times by Very Giant spiders, but even so, and even though I did it without any electricity, it was probably the easiest connection I've made in the game. Just need to connect the other end, which will be easier now that I have electricity, set up a couple trains to run the east-west line, and finish up the conveyors and the Skybridge is done!! Again, unless I decide to add some decor to the whole thing.

Before all that, ash and I finished the third season of Worst Cooks, which was enjoyable, and before that we went outside to look at and take pictures of a gorgeous sunset. Some of the pictures even turned out!

I did get one with my phone:

The colours got so deep as the sun went down, it was beautiful

The plan is to put more of the new fencing up tomorrow, hopefully it isn't raining for that. I don't currently have any rain in the forecast after tonight

In the meantime, some dinner, some Silent Hill, some bed

That sunset is AMAZING! What a great sky, a-plus!

We have also been having rain, and I'm happy for the existence of it, but weirdly annoyed that I still have to go to work. I would like to take the cozy days to curl up and do nothing please.

Things I should do today:
-Finish laundry (I left the last load in the dryer, need to grab that and bring the whole basket back into my room, and then ideally put some of it away)
-More yardwork
-Shower
-Empty the dishwasher

Oz woke me up at about 7:30 (the water bowl needed changing) and after laying in bed not falling back asleep for a bit, I figured I'd stay up and get yardwork done before it started getting hot. So I had some breakfast, listened to a podcast, and at around 9 I went out and finished putting the new fence up. That and some more weeding took about an hour and a half -- the fence is a little bit wonky and I may go and redo it at some point, but it'll work for now at keeping Ivy away from my roses

No pictures because my phone was dying, so I didn't bring it outside with me

My nice gardening gloves got sprinklered on last night, so they were soaked today and I couldn't use them. They're drying in the sun and also there's a bunch of yard waste laying around that I'll take care of when I can wear gloves to do it

To be honest I have been avoiding doing yardwork for a while not just because it's been 100F outside but because doing it over the temporary fencing I'd put up was annoying and enough of a deterrent to make me just, not. Hopefully with this fence I'll be more inclined to take care of things

I want to put down some paving stones into the area from the gate I just put up and plant a couple more roses either side of it, a little walkway into my tiny garden. That'll be nice I think!

Okay, there is definitely a nap in my future, but I need to stay up long enough to feed the cats, first. Plan for today is mostly to do homework but also to get in that shower I didn't do yesterday
