Woke up, had some lunch, started watching the new Zewei video, cleaned up the backyard and put a few more fence bits in (it's actually finished now unless and until I want to redo things, and also the gate needs its right half stabilized better), showered, and then sat down and finished the Zewei video. If I wake up early enough tomorrow I'll go do a little more yardwork with ash but otherwise I'm done

I'm going to do some conlanging research while I wind down, and then later tonight work on homework

I don't know what the broad consensus is on Silent Hill F yet or anything, I haven't gone looking for opinions, but I have seen some of them and

I'm not saying that it's impossible to find fault in Silent Hill F unless you're a raging misogynist, but I do just want to know, of the people who are criticising it, what their opinions are of Silent Hill 3

because that will tell me right away whether or not I should take their opinions seriously

Silent Hill 3 is an objectively fantastic game and a perfectly 'Silent Hill' story, and the protagonist of it also happens to be a teenage girl and the story happens to be heavily centered around, let's call them 'woman-coded fears'

(A good chunk of it also does not take place in Silent Hill)

So like, if your critique of Silent Hill F or Silent Hill 3 happens to largely boil down to 'but I don't want to play as a little girl >:(' then like, I really don't have time to listen to you

As for 'But it shouldn't be a Silent Hill game if it doesn't take place in Silent Hill', I'm pretty sure that's why it's a 'side story' and not a 'mainline game' but also, I've been there, I've made that argument about Silent Hill 4 The Room, so I get it. But also it's a pretty shallow argument, and unless you buy into the 'Silent Hill is the way it is because of the eternally burning mines under the town' which were introduced in the movie and NOT. CANON TO THE GAME LORE. Then there's no particular reason why the things that happen in Silent Hill couldn't happen anywhere else. It's either because of the cult, and cults can also happen in 1960s Japan, or it's unrelated to the cults and just kind of a, Thing That Happened. And Things That Happen can also happen in 1960s Japan

Anyway I am enjoying Silent Hill F

(To be clear 'but I don't want to play as a little girl' is a perfectly valid reason to not play a game, especially a horror game that advertises itself as dealing with topics of abuse. But it's not a critique of Silent Hill F, a game not being your thing does not make that game bad. It's the people who say it's bad because you play as a teenage girl instead of a big strong man that I don't have time for)

A bit more yardwork today but mostly rearranging furniture. We've officially swapped the tv-watching-space and the... well now it's more of a reading nook but it wasn't a space for anything in particular before. We're not going to do much else until the new couch is here, but when it gets here it will be an extremely simple procedure of taking the old couch out back to be shot and putting the new couch in the vacant space the old couch will leave behind, unless we decide we want the TV where the couch is and the couch where the TV is. We don't think the available space will work out for that but as of right now the TV is getting a lot of glare from the windows (even with the curtains drawn) and I personally don't like that the couch has you looking down the hall toward the bedrooms. It would not be great for my brain to have it looking into the kitchen, either, but it would be better

The parlour (as I'm going to call it; the aforementioned 'reading nook') is feeling more like a storage space now, but will be very nice once we get things squared away, get some art onto the walls, and a rug in that space. The piano keyboard is also set up there, but we don't know where the power cord for it went so I need to buy a replacement

ash and I watched a Worst Cooks -- we are not super enjoying Season 4 and are hoping it gets better once some more of the clearly-just-here-to-get-famous-for-being-on-a-reality-show contestants get kicked off, and also hoping that season 5 is more like the prior seasons. I have been really enjoying Bobby Flay on it, still, but it feels like they're editing Anne to come across as a bitch.

We also watched some youtubes (a Queen Coke Francis, a couple Ze Franks, a 'guess the musical', a couple random whatevers) and yesterday's Taskmaster, then we played some Crush House and then ash went to bed. We're both pretty spent from the physical activity this weekend, though the yard still needs a little cleaning up before we can send off pictures of proof we've done the work

I have been lowkey migraining for a few days (too much sun, I think), but I'm going to eat some food and watch a Game Grumps. Not sure what my night will be but definitely need to work on homework -- I know I keep saying I need to not put it off to the last minute and then I end up doing it last minute, it is genuinely the ADHD. Anyway I should do it not-at-the-last-minute though.

Well! I got most of the way through doing homework and realised I was doing the wrong pages. I'd thought we were doing 15-17 but actually we're doing 13-15, so I've got a couple pages pre-done for next week.

I do all my homework typed first, then write it all out onto the workbook pages, so today I did all the typing and then went out to hang out with ash for the rest of the evening. We watched a couple Worst Cooks (this season is getting better but still a bit eh) and then a Gastronauts (in this too I prefer the previous season), and we got chinese food for dinner. After that we watched a couple youtubes and then ash went to bed and first I played with Cael for a bit and then I went to finish my homework. Got it all written out and uploaded a few minutes ago, so now I've got the rest of the evening to myself

I also sent off the pictures of our cleaned-up yard to the property managers, I see no reason why it shouldn't be acceptable but fingers crossed just in case

It's time to feed the cats, so I'm going to do that and then feed myself.

Pretty cloudy today, and the cats woke me up a few times over the night, and to be honest I was up a bit late listening to the newest Knowledge Fight (I am just so excited for everything bad that's happening to Alex Jones, he's having such a bad time right now and it's giving me life), but despite all that I didn't have any real difficulty waking up

Some things: The milk had gone bad and I drank half a glass (at once) before I noticed
I went outside to exist in the yard for a bit and while there I saw a squirrel carrying a dead mouse in its mouth
When I went to set up my computer in the guest room for class, I opened the curtains and discovered a number of flies there. I killed and disposed of them but there were several more over the next ten minutes or so. We have no idea how or why they were in the guest room, there's no like, food or anything in there that I could find and there haven't been a noticeable number of flies elsewhere in the house

Feels omen-y

Anyway, class went alright. The professor rushed us a bit through some things because she had stuff she wanted to get to today so we'll be prepared for the quiz on Wednesday, but the material was reviewing 〜そう and 〜てみる and なら, which are all incredibly easy. 〜そう means 'it appears to be' and you add it to the end of another word with the only change being to drop the final い in い-adjectives, な-adjectives and nouns just get it tacked on as-is. 〜てみる is added to verbs to mean 'try to do' whatever the verb is (both in like, 'I'll attempt to do this' senses and 'I'll try it out' senses), and that just requires remembering how to conjugate verbs into て forms (which has been drilled into us over and over again, due to how common the form is). なら is a particle that you use in a structure to mean 'this, but not this' -- like if someone asks you if you want to go out for coffee but you don't like coffee, you can say お茶なら飲みたいですが、コーヒーは飲みません, or 'I'd like to drink tea (if that's an option), but I don't drink coffee'. There was a breakout room and the people I got paired with actually wanted to do the work, so that was nice, though five seconds before the room ended, Problem Student who had been missing until that point, joined it. He continues to be only mildly annoying but he is starting to show some signs of old habits -- trying to engage people inappropriately in the chat (as in, he shouldn't be talking during class, not like he's hitting on people), and after class ended he stuck around for a bit to uh, smalltalk the professor about how much his computer sucks? And she was just kind of 'ah is that so' in return

I did struggle a bit in class because I hadn't managed to have lunch beforehand, so I was starving by the time it ended. I ate some peanuts here and there, but that's not a meal, you know. So now I have had dinner but I'm going to need to eat more before I go to bed

ash and I watched another Worst Cooks -- we have two episodes left and have lost pretty much all of the contestants that were annoying us. The show format continues to be leaning a little too far into the reality-show-ness of it, but it's not too bad. I also talked at him at length about some of the things going on with Alex Jones, and that plus that we had dinner a bit late-ish meant that we didn't have much time after the episode to watch other things. So we did a couple shorter youtubes and ash went to bed

I have been chilling since, watching youtube and playing phone games. I would love to get some stuff done, such as playing video games or working on conlang, nothing like, actually productive, but alas even for that my brain is too tired. Maybe tomorrow

Things I'd like to do this week:
-Bleach, shave, dye my hair
-Reattach fake claws
-Rearrange stuff in my room
-Homework, and other studying
-Game night with Erika and Dave on Friday
-Vet appointment for Cael Sunday
-The city is doing an Archives Crawl on Saturday and ash and I want to go check that out
-Play more Silent Hill F
-Work out verbalizing system for Teket

I think that fills the week out pretty well
