I would also be excited to see the Satisfactory tour!

The archives crawl sounds like a keen idea, I'm sorry that it didn't work out. I got to visit a new-to-me library this past weekend, and it reminded me that I really love just wandering on my own around in libraries and places like that. They had a fancy (climate controlled?) cabinet that might've been locked and was filled with like old books for the very local area, which was neat --I should've asked more questions but they were pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon (yay!)

Alright, what I need to figure out next is prepositional phrases as the direct object

Two constructions for dealing with adpositional phrases as an argument to an intransitive verb:

Dynamic adpositions imply movement (I go to the store; I climb up the ladder) and append to the verb; a historical construct allowed intransitive verbs to be turned transitive by appending the adposition to the verb, while some of these transitivised verbs have been fossilised in the language, this method is now widely considered ungrammatical due to a preference for symmetry between dynamic and static adpositions

Static adpositions do not imply movement (I am at the store now; I am sitting on the ladder) and append to the noun

Intransitive verbs in Teket are defined as a verb that can take a maximum of one argument, transitive verbs can take two at a minimum and three at a maximum (though the arguments can be left implied). Therefore, intransitive verbs cannot take both a subject and an adpositional phrase

The preferred construction for attaching an adpositional phrase to an intransitive verb is to promote the adpositional phrase to the sentence's subject, comparable to the passive form in English

iusik marevhir
sit.INAN table-on
The table is sat upon

echitsa kuris
rise.INAN-above island
The island is risen above

If necessary, the entity doing the sitting or the rising can be introduced as the topic:

cet kuu kit iusik marevhir
topic.HUN 1SG 3SG.INAN sit.INAN table-on
As for me, the table is sat upon

Another construction uses a helper verb in a secondary clause, most often the verbs for 'to move' with dynamic adpositions and 'to be' or locative verbs for static

iusat kuu kit vhaki marevhir
sit.HUN 1SG 3SG.INAN exist.INAN table-on
I sit, the table is existed upon

echet kuu kit tukisa kuris
rise.HUN 1SG 3SG.INAN move.INAN-above island
I rise, the island is moved above

This construction puts emphasis on the information in the adpositional phrase, but is more often used for artistic or aesthetic purposes than semantic ones.

Couch arrived! I spent most of the day putting that together, and only a couple parts of that were really annoying. We got it set up one way, and then spent the evening with things like that, and then decided to swap the TV and couch positions right before ash went to bed. We do like how that setup looks though, so shouldn't be any further swaps in the near future and now we can start hanging stuff on the walls again without having to worry about things getting blocked. I did knock a dollcage down while we were rearranging and broke a (cheap, non-sentimental) display dish, so that was unfortunate but at least nothing else broke. And then I got the TV all set up and everything again

It is a nice couch but will take some getting used to and needs some throw pillows on it, and we should put the protective pads on the bottom of the legs so it doesn't scratch up the floor. But yeah! That's all done now!

The new season of Dragula Titans started airing today and the cast is full of assholes, as one would expect, but Jay Kay is back and I'm so excited for them. There are a couple of contestants that I'm happy to see, but there are more that I'm looking forward to seeing eliminated. Still, very happy for more episodes and looking forward to watching that as it airs for the first time!

We tested the sprinklers to make sure which ones were broken, and ash took pictures to send to the property people. We also got an overdue notice on our water bill which is, exciting, since we pay that through the property people! So like, have they stopped sending our money to them? Why???

It could be a scam but all the signs I could find are pointing to it being real

And someone should be coming to claim our old couch from craigslist tomorrow, which is one thing that won't need to get taken to the dump at least.

Alright, I am going to go eat some more dinner and then spend all night gaming with Dave

So I took those quizzes on Wednesday and one of them I found really hard, like I had no idea when we were supposed to have learned this information or where to find it (only missed one question anyway)

Come this evening, the professor sends out an announcement that the wrong quiz had been uploaded and we weren't supposed to take that one yet

💀

So now I have to take the correct quiz for this week

On Tuesday was Satisfactory with Dave and I almost exclusively rode trains around to plan out their routes. I also built a couple of new stations -- Dave wanted some freight platforms near the east skybridge station (rather than attach them to that station I built a new one), and the Mirror Dimension station has been getting super backed up so I built a second platform and split the trains up between which platform they stop at. We're kiiiiind of working through achievements now? Next week I'll either come up with a new project or we'll wrap things up and find something else to play

Tomorrow I am going to see Roofman with my family, and then they're going to go out for dinner but I've bowed out of that and with the quiz weirdness (and six pages of homework) I think I have a good excuse. The dinner got rescheduled to 7:30, so 'actually I really need to get home and do school things' is reasonable, I think

I just don't want to navigate the 'oh you'll take the mask off to eat?' kind of questions

But before all that I want to run to the store and pick up a card for Des, and while I'm there more baby food for Oz. For now I will chill and watch more old Dragulas

Oh yeah also it was confirmed that the water notice was real and it turned out that ''there was a problem with the automated payment system'' so the landlord just, stopped paying our water for however long it takes the water company to finally send out a 'no really this is the FINAL, FINAL NOTICE' to the occupant (and not the owner). Per water people they definitely reached out multiple times to the landlord and got ignored, so like. I believe there was a problem with the automated payment system, I also believe the landlord just didn't give a shit about fixing it until we complained

The landscapers are supposed to fix our broken sprinklers, and someone is supposed to reach out to us to get the hood filters installed

I had an appointment today to talk to a doctor about getting more refills on my prescription but they scheduled me twice for some reason, so they ended up calling me three and a half hours before they were supposed to, and then after all that the pharmacy sent me a message that there was information missing from my prescription so they can't fill it yet 🙃

There's been a lot happening

Too much a lot. We deserve a break.

So at noon I hied myself up to the store to pick up a birthday card for Des and baby food for Oz, and I happened to leave at exactly the right time to take the bus to a stop close to the house and shave ten minutes off my trip back, which was very nice. Now, last night Des was talking about scheduling my rideshare for 2 PM and ended up scheduling it for 2:30 PM, but between that uncertainty and having had rideshares show up super early before, I wanted to be ready to go at 2, so I made that happen and then hung out for twenty minutes before going out front to wait for the ride

At pretty much exactly 2:30, dad called to let me know plans were cancelled. Stacey can't make it, and Des isn't feeling well, so we're rainchecking. This is great because it means I don't have to go out, but is annoying how last-minute it was, and that I just spent a week removing my claw nails right after putting them on (I still have four attached, actually, but I've painted my bare nails to make it look more intentional)

Alright, I'm going to watch a Dragula -- I finished off a rewatch of season 1 last night so today I'm starting on season 2 (again)

I don't want to sound like an eco-fascist but I hear people saying the LLM environmental impacts aren't actually any worse than the environmental impacts of the rest of our technology and I look at the communities being destroyed by the power plants and energy generators being built in them to support LLM energy demands and I think, maybe we shouldn't be doing the other things that are allegedly using up all that power either?
