Took the bike out! Put air in the tires and checked it over for anything needing tightened or whatever. Did have a little issue when the bike wouldn't turn on but it turned out a cable had come unplugged, and after reconnecting it everything worked fine.

Also tested the stream set-up while I was out. I don't have a good way to mount the camera to the front of the bike, yet, it turns out, but I was able to affix it to the inside of my cargo basket and while I wouldn't want to do the actual streams like that it worked fine for the test. Video was a little crunchy, which is probably fine, and the picture was plenty stable. It did randomly stop streaming about eight minutes into the ride, which is a problem, obviously, but I've got some ideas for troubleshooting that. And the data usage on my phone was like 400 MB, so I don't think I need to worry about going over

Rode up to the bridge over the river, turned around, and came home. I did end up running over a shard of glass, so I'll have to check my tires, but other than that everything was fine. I'm relieved, honestly, because the last time I took the bike out was on that Super Hot Day when the battery drained super fast, and I was worried something was broken about it, but the battery was draining at a normal amount today so I think it really was just the heat.

I want to get a magnetic chest-mount for front-facing footage, and obviously I need to get the VM server set up, but I'm optimistic about all this working

Okay! I! Think I have everything ready to go to make a real stream happen? I should run more field tests to make sure it's all actually working, but as far as I know right now I have it all set up. My next step will be to make a pseudo-playlist with the music I want to play, because the OBS version I'm having to use is not able to handle playlists. But since I'm doing that, I can also make an overlay popup with artist/title info synced to the music

And I still need a good way to mount the camera so it's facing forward, but I have an idea for that as well.

Okay, I really should be going to sleep but I need to eat some more food first. I did also do laundry, though, which is the real reason I'm up so late but also means that I have clean blankets tonight

I'm really excited about the existence of your bike streams, bytheway! They sound like really lovely adventures and I hope at least some of them are at times when I can tune in.

Alright! I have streamed to twitch with music playing over the footage for about twenty uninterrupted minutes! This was on my home internet connection, so I still need to test it with my phone's data, but that at least rules out some stuff for troubleshooting if it does still drop after a few minutes. 1080p/60FPS does seem to be too much for the setup to handle, but 720p/60FPS went fine. That may change when the camera is not mostly stationary, again we'll troubleshoot further. And it used up 97% of the VM's CPU which is. Probably fine. What is CPU for if not to get used? But yeah, the music worked, and I was able to control the whole thing from my phone, and the video was fine, and &c &c &c. Next step will be to do another at-home mostly-stationary hotspot stream and see how that goes

Attempted a hotspot test but functionally got a still image instead of, you know, motion and then when I tried getting footage into OBS again either through hotspot or wifi I just got a blank screen. Before I could fully troubleshoot, though, I had to head out to dad's

Gorgeous weather today, which is wild because yesterday around 5 o'clock I looked out my window and saw this:

But we got a little bit of rain last night and this morning and then today it was just blue skies and very mildly chilly. We're having a pretty late autumn in general honestly, despite all the rain -- trees are only just starting to turn and most of them are still green.

Anyway, I took the train and then the bus and then walked to dad's house, and when I got there he took me to a fish place for a late lunch. Some things: an unbelievably immaculate person with a small purse, makeup, a trimmed goatee, and the most well-fit coat I've ever seen. A pretty awful accident we passed by which slowed the bus to a crawl for ten or fifteen minutes. Our uber driver to the fish place, when dad commented on the weather, sang "It's a wonderful world" a few times before explaining "I'm sorry, my English is not good. Very bad English." When we got to the fish place he wanted me to scoot across the backseat to get out on the other side, and the uber driver home also wouldn't let me get out on the side I'd gotten in on. When the waiter at the fish place brought us our food and told us to enjoy I absolutely started to say "You too" before stopping myself and we had a very human moment of laughing over that

Anyway, back at dad's house we went through some pictures and I have some in mind that I want to bring over to the house but didn't want to actually bring any back with me today mostly because I didn't want to put in the effort to load and unload them. The walk also really wiped me out, I'm very out of shape right now and need to work on walking and/or biking more.

At home, ash and I watched the first episode of the fourth season of Australian Taskmaster which the youtube has started uploading on fridays, and then a bunch of Drew Gooden videos about bad christmas movies. Now I'm hanging out in my room until bed. Will probably end up doing more troubleshooting but right now I'm just tired and want to chill
