A day for meeee? A day just for meeeeee?

Yesterday I finally got around to reading Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear, the now second-latest Wayward Children book, and ordered Through Gates of Garnet and Gold, the now most-recent. Adrift was good, though I felt it didn't spend enough time in the other world. I don't want to 'we get it' about this child's trauma, nor actually do I think the book would have been served by it being any shorter, I just think the latter part of the book should have been longer. Seanan McGuire has started relying on timeskips a bit much in these, in my opinion.

I am very interested in getting to read Gates, as it jumps back to the first child in the series and we see what's been going on back in her world, from what I saw of the summary.

I then jumped in the shower -- I really should have shaved first but I just couldn't be bothered, but I am clean now. And I walked around the pool while I let the sun dry my hair, so that was pretty nice. And then I laid in the sun in my bed and finally got around to listening to Hyperlove, Mika's new album. He's leaned very, like, electronic euro-pop on this one, which is fun but there's no particular standout songs for me and also there's these bits with a radio DJ interrupting the tracks occasionally to be weird at you, which I'm not a huge fan of. I will be removing those from the album before a relisten

After that I internetted for a while, and before I went to sleep I finally got around to reading In Mercy, Rain -- one of the shorter in-between Wayward Children stories, and when I woke up at 6:30 this morning I read the other I hadn't yet, Skeleton Song.

So yesterday's theme was catching up on some little treats that I have been neglecting because they take more effort than zoning out in front of youtube and the steamdeck for hours on end. I would say it was a pretty good day!

Yesterday I cleaned the mirrors in my bathroom area (I have one of those setups where the counter/sink etc is in the bedroom just outside the bathroom door, separated from the toilet and shower), and cleaned the cat water and food bowls, and I also did paint the claws while I watched some gamegrumps. I think they turned out really well despite a couple mistakes and not having very much topcoat (I need to get a new bottle), I will attempt some good pictures later

Today the weather has turned grey again so I didn't have much energy for getting up and doing things, but I did fill out my SSI renewal form (ugh) and did some cleanup on my mp3 player (for some reason it doesn't register songs with the artist written in ALLCAPS as having an artist, and a couple of Mika albums on there were stylised that way; also the new album was on a removable card, I moved that into the appropriate folder on the internal memory). Then I listened to Mika while cutting my nails and attaching the claws

Listening to the new songs separated from each other has revealed a couple standouts, where I went 'Oh I like this one, is this one of the new ones?' and it was. Oh, I also doublechecked that I did not want the radio dj interludes on there and removed them, so I also didn't have those interrupting my happy experience.

Well damn, the USB drive I've been keeping my writing on has died. Luckily I just recently backed everything on it up to dropbox, but that's still very annoying. It's not that old, and replacing USB sticks is so annoying these days with all the counterfeit drives on the market.

So it turns out that I think some corrupted files from the stick were getting backed up for a bit, because some writing files I tried to get from the backups today was corrupted. Spent the day digging through other versions of the files and luckily I was able to find one that didn't have any corruption and appears to be the same as any other most-recent version so shouldn't have lost any writing. Being a data-hoarder pays off sometimes!

I have also shaved and showered today, but otherwise that's what I've been up to. Yesterday I did some laundry and dusted (just kind of a first-pass on it, though, I wanted to go broad rather than deep), and I also read through a few PBP threads and actually replied to a few of them! I would like to pick back up on many things.

Right now I am going to go make myself a lunch to eat, and then poke at some more creative stuff

Something about the conservative mindset's inability to grasp that other people have different goals and preferences, a mindset that demands all people be fundamentally the same or they're "degenerate" and need to be taught to be normal or removed from play. And corollary: a refusal to believe that other people don't think this way

Gay people want everyone to be gay. But if everyone were gay the human race would die out! Ergo being straight is "correct"

Soon everyone will be using AI and there won't be any need for humans to create art anymore

I cheat on my wife, ergo all men cheat on their wives

This is not unique to conservatives, but they do enshrine it as a core part of their philosophy
