Not a great day so far, but my digimon fitbit arrived! It is very much a cheap children's toy, but that's what I was expecting so it's not a disappointment. There are some very interesting design decisions going on with it -- for example, your digimon will lose points if you go five minutes without wearing the watch, like for example when you're charging it. Turning it off messes with the time/date settings, so you can turn it off to charge it or shower or whatever, but you'll have to reset the time when you turn it back on.

But I have a little pulsemon living on my wrist now.

I'm going to go give Oz her afternoon pill, and then we're going to take a nap and hopefully my brain will be less anxiety when I wake up again

Yeah, so, ran into some technical issues of some sort when joining the torah study -- unsure if it was on my end or theirs or if they just didn't notice me waiting to join or what, but I ended up trying to join three times before I was let into the meeting. Then halfway into it, Erik changed the wifi information so I missed some stuff in the middle there, and because I didn't get enough sleep I was completely unfocused through the whole thing anyway. At the end, just before I hit the 'leave' button, the student rabbi asked me if I had any questions and I was so caught off-guard I just said no and that I was about to leave, which would have been a perfect opportunity to ask if there was someone I could email when I did have questions but I didn't. So, feeling awkward today.

I did set aside some notes to look at for when I do have focus, and I need to get some Arcadia recording stuff done so soon I'll go in there and do those. I did get a couple-few hours of nap in there, which was nice. I'm going to go wander around the house, now, and see what people are up to.

After nap, Lee and I hung out in/by the pool for a while and I read to him (we are slowly and inexorably working our way to the ending of Fifth Season), then we watched Arrival and then a few youtube videos (I introduced him to Dogen, which is not something I've been able to do before now because Dogen's videos are 99% subtitled Japanese and Lee likes to look at other things while listening to youtube), and then the day was over. I ate more dinner, recorded a few Arcadia bits that needed doing, played some Missing Translation while listening to youtube, and now I'm about to go to bed.

I'm working my way toward another language kick, probably tomorrow or the day after I'll do more of my translation playthrough of Tunic. But it's also got me thinking about conlang projects. I'm thinking about combining two ideas I've had, previously -- one about a seasonal ket festival and one about visiting your girlfriend on Kuris as a second-generation emigrant. So, visiting your girlfriend during the festival (as a concept I've been referring to it as the "whalefall" but it'll need an actual logical name for it in-canon). Learn about the culture, talk to people without making an ass out of yourself, stuff like that. There's a genre of games meant to teach you Japanese in which you play as a foreigner visiting your Japanese girlfriend, I'd be poking fun at those. Might do that one in RPGmaker so you can walk around and look at stuff, but it'd be easier to do it visual-novel-style in Twine or one of those engines specifically for VNs.

But yeah, talk to her dad and use honorifics correctly to give a good impression, or don't and make an ass out of yourself. Pronounce things correctly, or don't. Stuff like that. Commit social faux pas.

I think I'd want to include some kind of greater plot that you're working your way through, but it would work well enough as just a slice of life up to and through the festival events. Good ending, spend a nice evening with your girlfriend, bad ending, you've embarrassed yourself so much she's broken up with you. Unsure.

I still need to make the clicker game, though, and the Stardew Valley mod, and the Legend of Zelda translation. I'll keep poking at it, see what happens.

Today Lee and I went out to both run a few errands and spend some time together. We started off going to an auto parts store just to look at stuff, but left soon after because Lee wasn't really into it. So we went to an overstock store instead and picked up a few things, including a Masters of the Universe Buzz-Off action figure, because nostalgia. Then we went to home depot and had an awful customer service experience, which is not out of the norm for that home depot, so we're not going to go back to it.

Then we got lunch and came home.

While out, the little man in my watch digivolved into a yoga bug!

This one should get less sad over me not exercising constantly, which will be good right up until friday when I have PT. It will have evolved again by then, but whatever it evolves into will still be attuned to my less-than-active-lifestyle.

Tomorrow I'm going to play Digimon World on stream for Erika, so right now I'm making sure I have the ability to do that, or at least the ability to play the game. I'm not going to test stream because I don't want to go live, so we'll find out if my computer can even do that when it's time.

But either way I'm going to chillax for a while, I'm getting a headache and want to not do that. So, rest, and caffeine.

My main complaint about this watch is that the cheap plastic keeps catching on my dang arm hair

Up a bit late playing Stardew Valley. I've been struggling to get back into playing my first save file because there's so much going on in it and my farm is overwhelming if you don't have a Routine for it, and I couldn't remember that routine. But I got back into it and it's going smoothly!

The season just changed over when I stopped playing, so things are less pretty than they would be if I had set up the next batch of flowers and crops. I'll get another screenshot when it's nicer looking.

Streaming digimon was a success! Went for about two hours and in that time died maybe five times and decided to start over, then grinded stats for a couple in-game days and beat Palmon, after which Oz digivolved into a Tyrannomon and Erika had to go walk dogs. So we called it there and we'll do it again at some point and see how far we can get then.

When that was done, the digimon in my watch was sad, so I went for a walk around the pool for a few minutes and now it's not happy but it is neutral.

It remains really interesting how they designed this -- it's very much not an exercise thing and doesn't really encourage health or fitness per se. It's a digimon game, it encourages doing things that will get you a new digimon so you can collect all of them. Sometimes that's exercising more, sometimes it's exercising less, and sometimes it's exercising in a different way.

Anyway! I'm going to play some Stardew now.

The war on ants continues

Looked over at my dinner plate a while ago to find it swarming with ants, so I had to take care of that. And I still can't figure out where they're getting in from -- they just disappear into the carpet in my closet at some point but I can't see any holes or anything they'd be disappearing into. Every hole I do find they're ignoring and just walking around it. I've sprayed insecticide in my closet three times now and it's done fuckall

I would really, really like to go back to living my life

Oz would also really like to stop having ants crawling on her

Anyway have a little farm update

1OhNrN-m.png

This uploader doesn't support the upgraded shed, apparently, there should be one next to the greenhouse (where the unupgraded shed was in the previous picture)

Finished off the community center finally! Working on getting ingredients for some crafted stuff, now.
