We are back from the vet! She is not concerned about Oz's teeth (aside from the missing ones her teeth look fine and there's no inflammation now or anything that she can see, so she wants to just leave things be unless it starts interfering with her eating). She did hear a heart murmur and said it could just be stress but I assume that's something to keep an eye on, and Oz has lost some weight since her appointment last year. This is also the first appointment they've said anything about her muscle wasting, though didn't say anything about doing anything about it. Vet agreed that we should get her thyroid levels checked, because symptoms could those being off again, and also is doing like a general senior blood panel.

I also gave the vet the average of how much she's been eating per day over the past three months and over the past week and the vet seemed to finally take her eating issues seriously because of it. She recommended a supplement to start giving her, so I'm going to order that now and we'll see if she'll eat it (fingers crossed). At least she didn't recommend yet another prescription food to try.

And now that I don't need to make sure I have access to as much money as possible just in case they want to give her $2000 surgery for her teeth I can pay my credit card bills. I'm going to order that supplement thing and some food for Cael and then I'm going to go eat lunch

Well! I've finally given up on chewy. The website has become completely unusable, to say nothing of the shipment quality I've been getting for the past like year. We'll see if petco does any better I guess

I am hoping to get a pubbydog later this year, after I move apartments, so it sucks if chewy is no good anymore. What's the issues you've been having with website and quality if you don't mind me asking?

So the packing issues I've been having is that I keep getting packages that have been beat to shit and have like no padding in them, and have consequently gotten items that have also been beat to shit and crushed under whatever else I've ordered. I've honestly limited what I've bought from them this past while because I don't want to get broken cat toys because they threw them in a box with 40 lbs of litter and no protection.

Some prior context: chewy saves paypal as a payment option with whatever card you used when you used it, so it doesn't pop up a 'Which payment method do you want to use' when you choose paypal, it just charges whatever card you saved it with. So I will remove paypal as an option and then re-activate it, to make sure it's using the card I want it to

Today I:
Tried to do that and chewy wanted me to log in again but wouldn't accept my password
So I tried the 'forgot my password' prompt and it told me it would send me an email to change my password
As of five hours later I have not received any emails from chewy
(Did try it a couple times, no email for either attempt)
So I tried to just input my card details manually
It wouldn't take my card

So like, I couldn't buy from them. So I won't! I have heard that chewy is the way it is because petsmart bought them and then has been like, intentionally sabotaging them to drive customers to their main store instead, so I am also not going to use petsmart. I do wish there were better options for an online pet supply store that is just that and doesn't suck.

But yeah, the packing issues honestly should have had me looking elsewhere already and it does say something about customer inertia that I just put up with it for however long and instead altered my shopping behaviour to minimise the damage their bad customer service could do. But when your options are other-conglomerate or amazon, what can you do.

Historically I have also had their website just, fail to load correctly half the time I was using it, but I haven't had that issue very much lately

Since I'm ideally not going to deal with those packing issues from petco, I did throw some cat toys in my order. Also it seems like the thing the vet recommended doesn't actually help with eating or nutrition? But I ordered it anyway because who knows, maybe it will help. And I ordered some cat broth because that actually maybe will help.

And food for Cael

Iguanas make terrible pets and I honestly kind of think it's unethical to keep them as such but god I love them and I want one so bad

I also want a tegu and an ackie monitor and a blue-tongued skink and a red-tailed boa and a hognose

I just think like!

It's been a long time since we really needed to consider the utility of an animal before adopting it into our lives. I think we should have domesticated some cool new pets by now! Domesticate some animals just because they'd make really cool pets! We can do it, I have faith in us
