I'm trying not to feel like I'm wasting money and being flighty about all this -- I am learning about my preferences! I'm allowed to try a thing and decide I want a different thing!

Kind of day where you're just waiting for it to end so you can start over

Speaking of starting over, I have reset all the romantic relationships on my Tomodachi island. I feel like we'll get some better results now that people have treasures and quirks, we'll see

Geppetto (2000) is so much better than people give it credit for. Lee and I watched it tonight and it's genuinely a really good movie with some very fun songs! I do think it falls in to one of my favourite genres, which is comedies that people for some reason cannot tell are making jokes. Like they laugh at it but think that the movie is not trying to make them laugh, they think the movie is just stupid? But no, you are experiencing humour, actually, the movie is in fact in on the joke

Iiiiiii love this movie!

I haven't met a lot of other people who have seen it, but it has a lot of talented people in it doing their talented things, features some genuinely fun songs (I like the "satisfaction guaranteed" one a lot), and I think it's wholesome and funny.

It and the Brandy Cinderella belong on the 'It's a good movie, you guys are just mean' meme

(And in the Brandy Cinderella case, 'You guys are just racist')

Satisfaction Guaranteed is so catchy, and Lee and I had a lot of fun hypothesising about the Implications of that town (what happens to the FIVE children made just for Geppetto that he abandons there?? You can't just keep making children for people!!)

Usher's song is also a banger, and I love Julia Louise-Dreyfus having to sing in the character voice she gave the Blue Fairy. The movie in general also gives off the vibe of a production that everyone had fun doing, which does not always mean it was a good time but does always make for a fun movie to watch

Also I was very amusing while searching around for it because it came out in 2000 so I was looking for "Geppetto 2000"

Also also I can't bring up Pinnocchio adaptations without bringing up Pinnocchio and the Emperor of the Night which is also great and has some wonderfully creepy bits in it

It's also kinda nice to have a pretty straightforward message, sometimes? like "you and your family can find happiness and togetherness even if you follow different paths" is a simple idea but nice to see just, played with full effort and no convoluted twists

Yeah, I don't think we see that very often right now with this sort of movie, everything needs to be ironic and self-aware. And like, Geppetto was self aware but it was a kitschy self-aware
