Baby was in stage 2 for several years and just fine with a diet change (switched to an Rx food low in ......something? Nitrites? Idk)! I am hopeful the same will be true for Oz now that she has a vet who actually pays attention

Yeah, prognosis for stage 2 is 1-3 years, which at her age is what I could hope for. When I've got the vet on the line again I'll ask if he would recommend a food change, though today she started eating her senior food again which I'm glad about

The main concern right now I think is cancer, which we will god willing rule out with the ultrasound

Aaaand the fireworks have started. In earnest, they've been going intermittently for a while

Oz is never particularly bothered by them but Cael gets pretty freaked out. This year I've set up a little tunnel made out of blankets for him to hide in, and I'm keeping my door and the windows closed to help muffle the sound. Also I've turned my video games up a little to hopefully cut the sounds with something a little more familiar

Okay, I've asked about the pedialyte stuff and if it's okay to split the fortiflora into two meals. I need to ask
-Would it be okay to do the ultrasound at the same time as her next bloodwork or does that need to happen more immediately
-Can we drop off a fecal sample at the same time as either of those
-Would he recommend getting her on a different food
-Now that we know she has kidney damage, does that change his recommendation to have her on pepcid

Spoke too soon, she's off that food again

Yeah as of early this morning she's lost her appetite and thrown up four times

At the emergency vet

To start with, Oz is home, she's fine. Sorry if I left anyone hanging, my phone was dying and when I got home I just wanted to sit and not do anything for a while

Today has been stressful, obviously. Oz peed on my silk blanket again, so that needed to be washed, and the cover still needs to be washed so I'm going to be sleeping without it tonight and hoping Oz doesn't pee on it while it's uncovered. She also, as stated, wouldn't eat any food, didn't even show much interest in usually high-value treats, like little bits of cheese or bacon. She was throwing up through the day, once digested food in the very early morning and then bile and water the rest of the time. Since she was a little dehydrated, per the vet, on Friday and he wanted me giving her electrolytes, I thought maybe she was in an awful feedback loop where the low electrolytes was making her feel bad and then the throwing up was making her lose more electrolytes, so we tried giving her some pedialyte, but by the evening she was still throwing up so I made the call to go to the emergency vet.

They gave her some subcutaneous fluids, an anti-emetic, an anti-nausea, and an appetite stimulant, and sent me home with more of the anti-nausea to give her. Since coming home she's eaten a little and drank a little, hopefully she will eat more later. I asked if he would recommend changing any of what her current vet has me doing (like if he would recommend skipping the fortiflora, for example), but as they don't know exactly what's caused this he recommended just continuing as normal and talking to her vet about it, which I plan on calling about tomorrow. Lee and I also think in light of this it'll be better to get the ultrasound as soon as we can rather than waiting to do it at the same time as her bloodwork. The poor baby is going to be taking a lot of car rides.

I also rearranged my room some. I've been talking for a while that I wanted to swap the fridge and food-storage with the cat tree and litterbox, to get the fridge away from the (hot) window and to let the cats use the cat tree to look outside, and I finally did it. Room still needs a lot of cleaning, but I'm pretty wiped out from what I've already done. Oz is dozing on the cat tree now, which she hasn't done in a while, so that's nice. I am encouraging Cael to leave it be for the night so she can have it to herself for now. Unfortunately while she can still jump up there she doesn't seem able to get down again without hurting herself, so I need to figure out some kind of ramp or platform she can use. For tonight I am watching her for when she wants to get down and helping her do it by hand.

I think that's about everything. I'm going to turn my brain off and play video games.

Oh she did poop during all that and it was very normal-looking. On the towel next to her food rather than in the litterbox, but it wasn't the almost-diarrhea she's been having. Hopefully that continues

When I told the emergency vet her current vet said that he hoped getting the thyroid under control would get everything else to 'fall in line' he looked concerned, and I also am concerned by that, but we'll see how things seem to be going
