Re: Promiseland
I do would love to know exactly how much, if at all, Andy Serkis was inspired by Oddworld in his performance of Gollum/Smeagol

Okay! That one dragged a little for me, but it being the middle of a trilogy I expected it to. There were a few things that I had thought were in the third movie, and some things that I had forgotten about but if I'd remembered them I'd have known they'd be in this one, but yeah, mostly I just didn't know the plot of it.
Between the love interest plots and the politics this one wasn't really for me. But there were parts I really liked, and I'm enjoying the characters a lot, generally. I'm enjoying both this thing with Frodo seeing himself in Gollum and fearing what he'll become if he fails in his quest (or even if he does succeed, potentially), and seeing Smeagol deal with his trauma. As a Boromir fan I did appreciate him getting another scene, but I didn't really need them to justify his motives any more, I'd already got them.
Looking forward to finishing the series off, but it'll probably have to wait a couple days because I'm going to dad's house tomorrow.
Score two for two so far on not falling asleep during them!
Ah! It is good to know about the space heater and power strip --I am glad to hear more nuance and know that you're being safe!
I enjoyed the Two Towers liveblog. I haven't consumed it since like...any of them came out. The Samwise = Himbo commentary is the funniest fucking thing to me (much like the "Legolas is kinda ugly by elf standards, Gimili is a fucking man god by dwarf standards" commentary which pleases me)

Taking a couple buses up to dad's house today and I sure am the only person still masking (:
Just saw one (1) person in a parking lot wearing a mask
Dad gave me some money as an early christmas present and I've used part of it to buy weed, for the first time since you needed a medical card to do it. I'm very excited! As is Oz -- I of course do not give her weed, but she likes the smell of it, and I always give her catnip when I smoke
Decided to fire up Skyrim last night, but when I did so I then had to go through the motions of getting the mods all sorted, which was not a huge hassle but did push things too late to be able to play any and also go to bed at a reasonable hour. When I loaded my last save I did discover that my character is naked, so probably I'm missing some mod or another that had the clothes I was wearing, but it being Skyrim it's also possible that I just wasn't wearing any for some reason when I stopped playing last.
When I was playing before I was doing some actual role-playing in it, and had a mod that gave me a journal to write in, and I was very pleased to discover that when I re-downloaded that mod my journal entries were still intact! I don't think I'll continue that journal but I might start up a new one with a new character (or, rather, the same character, but again and better this time). But I did transcribe the entries into a google doc, for posterity. They're not like, good or anything, but it was fun.
I want to do a little digging through the workshop for anything new that seems neat, since it's been so long since I've played
But right now Oz is watching birds on the TV, so any game things will have to wait until she gets bored of that.
Got the insomnias again!
