Re: The Cracked Mug v 2.0

I do also see some people claiming ESO will shut down in 2022, so I guess we've been playing a dead game all along
also, like, these steamcharts are definitely not perfect datasets because the FF14 numbers do not include the people who launch the game from the Squenix launcher vs. through Steam (myself included) nor does it include console players from either game but like
FF14 is unquestionably better-funded and more popular but ESO ain't that far behind in player count considering its disadvantage

You'd get the same outliers with ESO, so probably roughly comparable differences? I also play through the native ESO launcher, and I know there's a hefty console playerbase
I do see a rough general trend down over the years, but I also see that with FF14, and FF14's base seems much less stable than ESO's
Given the years involved, I'd say the peaks over the pandemic are the outliers and the trend down is just people falling off of MMO's in general as we're all forced to get 'back to normal'

Christmas!
I logged into dead game that no one ever plays, ESO, to grab my daily, and then finished up Sophie's gift (we exchanged blorbo fics since we weren't gonna see each other in person and didn't want to stress about physical gift-giving). I then opened my own presents, which were:
Some acrylic pour paints, a little desk lamp I wanted, and a D&D 5e book about the Underdark from Sam (he was my Secret Santa this year in the friend group chat)
A squeaky dragon toy for Baby Dog from Masque & Val
A super awesome dice cup thing, also from Masque & Val! It's really lovely, I'll have to take a picture of it and show at some point
Oh, and Greggo was a sweetheart and sent me some $$ to use on Xbox!
And then the presents I got Baby Dog, which are some seasonal milkbones (they're "gingerbread" flavor, whatever that means for a dog) and a big long caterpillar squeaky toy.
So yeah, I am very lucky and blessed to have friends and presents! After I got all that cleaned up I started cooking a pot pie, because I work today and we're having a lil pot luck for First Responder Christmas. That's cooking now, so I have a timer set to make sure I don't burn it to a crisp and think I'm gonna doot around in video games until it's time to actually get ready for work. I decided today can be a rest day re: exercise since I already have a lot going on, and also it's Christmas, so away I go!
Work was weirdly busy! The nature of my job means that I can't ever fully anticipate when a day will be slow vs. busy, but I've been doing it long enough that I've identified a few basic patterns. One is that Christmas Day itself is usually pretty slow, but we took in quite a few cases and even a jail death.
(it's always a bit surreal to take in a death report and then end the call w/ the officer or nurse going 'Merry Christmas!')
The potluck went well and was delicious, though! I have some leftovers to eat that'll last me at few days, although at some point before the weekend I should swing by Aldi's for some basics and also to perceive if there's anything fun on sale in the seasonal aisle. Ew, and I need to do laundry soon, we're at threat level midnight for clean undies. I'll do that tomorrow, probably. I don't mind doing laundry on my weekend but the fewer chores I need to deal with on my off time, the better.
Anyways, today I tidied up a bit and did and my usual routine stuff and am now sitting in front of a space heater absorbing the warms until it's time for me to walk Baby Dog and finish getting ready for work. I am pondering a lil 30 minute nap, we shall see
