Okay! Movie over!
So that was better than the second one, but I think the first one grabbed me better. It's hard for a four hour long movie to keep you engaged the whole time, though
It did have a lot of the, war, stuff that isn't my jam. I enjoyed a lot the stuff with Frodo and Sam (obviously) and they kept that balanced really well with the other plots.
God, can you imagine if they actually had to make the whole trilogy in only two movies, like was originally planned? What a nightmare
Not a whole lot of thoughts about it! It was a movie, I enjoyed it
The Anglican priest and scholar of religion Alison Milbank adds that Shelob is undeniably sexual: "Tolkien offers a most convincing Freudian vagina dentata (toothed vagina) in the ancient and disgustingly gustatory spider Shelob."
I really think that says more about you, my dude
I support a gay interpretation of Frodo's and Sam's relationship insofar as doing so makes homophobes angry, but I don't actually ship them. I'm on the 'great portrayal of non-romantic love' train
I agree! I actually think it's easier to interpret Gimli and Legolas' relationship (in the books, specifically) as homoromantic because literally --
After Aragorn's death, Legolas made a ship in Ithilien and left Middle-earth to go over the sea. His strong friendship with Gimli prompted Legolas to invite him to accompany him to the Undying Lands; making him the first and only Dwarf to do so. He was never seen again in Middle-earth.

fellas is it gay to forever go into the undying lands with an elven prince
Yeah! My understanding is that Legolas and Gimli are less one-note in the books than they are in the movies, but even in the movies if you look at like, the basic shape of their relationship you can still get to gay from it. And, yeah, the appendix epilogue seems Very Gay
I did this today, adding green onion and sweet peppers to the water with the flavour packet, pre-boil, and then after it was all done adding a little more green onion on top (for cronch). It was very good and very satisfying, 10/10, except that Oz was very sad she couldn't have any, so -10/10 on an emotional level
I'm also saving the green onion nubs and sticking them in one of the pots outside, so maybe I can continue to have fresh green onion in future!
It's cold!!!
Did a COVID test today as it's been long enough since Saturday's outing that it should show up if I caught COVID during it -- negative, luckily
I also just knocked out some solo recordings that needed done for Arcadia, and finally scanned and uploaded my doctor letter to the juror portal
I did couldn't remember, earlier, whether I'd given Oz her morning pill and erred on the side of not giving her two doses, but I think now that I skipped it. This is an "oh well" and not a huge concern, but still annoying
Going to go chill out until bed, I think, I want to try to go to sleep early(ish)
