It's that time of year where no matter how many blankets I put on the bed, I'm wrong. I either wake up freezing in the middle of the night or wake up sweating in the morning - or, if I'm really lucky, both

Done! I have copied 403 kanji onto digital flashcards, not counting the half-dozen or so duplicates I deleted

I'm going to copy over some particles before I call it a night, and then on to the kana entries, which I'm going to need to figure out how to handle within the limitations of the program, because they include more information than the kanji entries did

But that'll be for future me to deal with

Yet another language game idea: an edutainment platformer where you collect letters/words and use them to answer quizzes. Think very cutesy, childish aesthetic with a lot of toyetic hello-kitty-type characters

Questions like "what letter is missing from this word?" and "fill in the blank to make this sentence make sense" and "which form of this verb is correct?"

(edutainment platformer that teaches kids how to manage their asthma)

Pros: Easier to make than my other game ideas; I could start making it now! Compared to my other ideas it would be trivial!

Cons: Higher barrier to entry for the average person, so no one will want to play it

When I say 'I could start making it now' I actually mean not that, because it's 2:AM again and I need to go to bed

But you know what I mean

Today was ash's and my 'game night' which we're going to try to do at least monthly, and he taught me how to play go! We played two and a half games -- the first half-game because we spent it trying to pin down the rules and make sure we knew what we were doing, then started over. He won one and I won one (and, naturally, no one won the half-game). It was fun! We're neither of us super good at it, and I feel like between our experience and general game inclinations we end up being pretty evenly matched, which is nice

Next month is his turn to pick a game and he mentioned possibly having us play Hive, but also mentioned possibly playing another game of go some time before then to keep the rules fresh in mind

I am not very good at board games (/card games/tabletop sorts of games in general) but I really enjoy playing them, and I've missed doing so, so I appreciate that while ash is not very enthusiastic about board games (/etc) he's willing to play some with me sometimes anyway.

After that we watched an Um Actually while we ate dinner, and then we went into my room to play Ib for about two and a half hours. I've wanted to show this one to ash for ages and kept forgetting because it's not one in my steam library or anything, and I'm pleased to report that he is enjoying it. You play as a little girl trapped in an art museum, and then creepy things happen. We're pretty close to the end of it -- it's not a very long game

I do also want to go back to Off at some point -- he wasn't super interested in that one when I tried to show it to him before but possibly he'll have a different opinion this time.

Now I'm gonna hang out on the computer and do some more copying Japanese into anki
