Recap!

Friday: lazed about playing Elden Ring and finishing last minute cleaning stuff, then went to pick up Sophie from Union Station! As we had pre-planned, we went straight to Best Buy in order to upgrade her iPad (which she uses to draw with Procreate) to a newer gen, so she can have more space and RAM and stuff, and I took her old iPad. I despise Apple technology but I wanted to try drawing with a portable device, because otherwise I use a plug-in tablet and have to be at my computer desk in order to draw. I also wanted to switch away from using Photoshop, which tbh I only use because I have a pirated copy on my computer and it's what I'm used to.

We had then planned to watch a show and draw together, but one of the reasons I hate Apple technology surfaced and the Apple pencil we bought for me simply did not work, so we had to table that for later so we could exchange it for an older generation pencil that could actually plug in and connect. The second generation Apple pencil is one of those situations where they've tried so hard to be high speed, low drag, that they have removed basic features that make an object usable. We did try to go to the nearby Target and buy the correct pencil, with the idea being we'd then just return the shitty one tomorrow, but Target was out and I didn't have it in me to try anywhere else.

Anyways, we made burgers and stuff for dinner and still had a good time!

Saturday: Stardew Valley concert!!!

We met up with some of Sophie's friends for lunch (tasty dim sum!) and then all went to the concert afterward. I was a bit overstimulated and on edge but the concert itself was lovely, despite the venue being disorganized and some level of like ........... the crowd perhaps not knowing orchestral concert etiquette is a little different than other types of concert etiquette? I realize that's extremely insufferable of me to say but there were quite a few people, despite signage saying it was prohibited, holding out their phones to record &tc and it's just extremely rude and also not, like, useful? I promise your phone is incapable of capturing the live sound, it's going to be tinny and wrong if you even end up watching it again at all. Live music like that is an impermanent thing! Just enjoy it!

After the concert we went to Best Buy to exchange aforementioned tablet pen, then stopped by a grocery store to get some stuff for dinner, and at that point I was tired and had careened from a bit overstimulated into a lot overstimulated, so I was relieved when we got back to the apartment. I did draw a bit, and the learning curve is certainly a thing, but I think it'll be a good change and I'm excited to not be stuck at my desk if I wanna draw!

Sunday aka today: lazed about, poked at Procreate a little more (got some brushes I want to try and use, still struggling with the learning curve), then dropped Sophie off at Union Station so she could head back home. Now I'm back in my apartment and I feel kind of off, and tired; the weekend was good, but I think my mood is just a little wonky and I'm slightly exhausted of going places. I took a short nap and then a shower and am about to scrounge up a food to eat (I'll have to get some groceries tomorrow morning before work, I definitely don't have it in me today), and then I'll figure out what I want to do with my evening. Extremely low on spell slots, so I may just become an Elden Ring couch slug or watch a show or something.

Monday!

I have a short work week because I took the long weekend, so I only work today and tomorrow, which is nice. Today I definitely need to get some groceries, and then probably go on a run since it's supposed to be nice out and I would like to absorb some sunshines.

I do feel better after a good night's sleep, and also I talked to Sophie about how next time we have a girlfriends weekend I would like it if we could just hang out and plan less things. She agreed; I think we've both enjoyed our recent adventures, but the last three times we've spent time together it's been highly scheduled and involved social with other people. That's not a bad thing, but since we're long distance we don't get any physical space time together unless we plan it, and I think we need to plan just existing in the same space and recouping spell slots. It can be a bit tricky because we each have a pet that needs minding (and one that can't just come with us, like Baby Dog can, since Sophie has a cat), but I think I'll look into an AirBnB near her for her birthday upcoming.

Anyways, I'm gonna sit and absorb coffeedrank for a minute and then go ahead and get groceries and start getting some stuff done.

Weekend!

So far I've slept in a bit, walked Baby Dog, and decided that if I go get groceries today I'll die, actually, so I'm ordering a food for lunch that I can have leftovers from for dinner and groceries can be a tomorrow Erika problem.
