And! I've bought the steamdeck (and spent some extra for the dock)! Excited for it to get here, anxious that I have fucked something up somewhere and couldn't actually afford it after all. There is no reason to think that, but brains are going to brain

Once that's all here and set up, I can officially move the computer into the office and maybe use it to do productive things? This is the hope. I do need to decide if I'm going to try to upgrade it from windows 7 or just keep using that, but without having to worry about steam/game compatibility anymore that's less of a thing. (Steam is going to end support for windows 7 in less than a year; the community is half up in arms about this and half up in arms about windows 7 users, as usual. Do not ever go into a steam forum and ask for confirmation that something will work with windows 7. Do not ever go into a steam forum period, actually.)

In more adultier purchases than a game console, I also finally gave up on finding the power cord for my hand vacuum and ordered a replacement. So that will also be nice to have again

 
I've wanted to do this for a while, and finally got around to it. Ket heads are hard to draw from different angles, so I've made a rough model of their basic shape! Should help as a reference

Maybe someday I'll get fancy and make one with a movable jaw, because drawing their mouths is also very hard

Unsubbed from someone's patreon today (they're just not posting things I'm interested in, so I moved those funds over to someone who is) and then I took a peek at their tumblr just now to discover they've injured themselves and are asking for people to sub to their patreon to cover funds

They definitely have enough followers to handle this without my contribution but now it probably looks like I unsubbed out of some kind of spite

Last night I had a dream I won $5000, which stressed me out as I tried to figure out how and if I could accept it while continuing to get disability benefits

Also the dock is coming separately because I needed to use two different payment methods for it and the console, but luckily it's the console that's shipped first

I've been feeling very defeatist lately

Oz is back to waking me up stupid early again, and rather than try to fight her I'm trying to go to bed earlier so I can just, be awake when she does that. This is problematic for a few reasons that I'm not yet positive how to solve

She wants me awake between 8 and 9 AM, which means falling asleep by midnight; I've been reading for an hour before bed, which means in bed by 11, which is mostly a problem because she's supposed to get fed at 11:30 and if I push that back she's going to try to wake me up even earlier, because her clock is based on when she gets fed. So like, that's an issue! It also fucks up what times I can pill her because I prefer to keep that separate from her feeding times, but I'm being left with an extremely narrow range to work with

I also really prefer to have some time after hanging out in the evening to just unwind and relax, which is less effective when I have maybe an hour to do it in.

And on top of all this, if I'm not within a certain sleep phase when people are awake and getting ready for work in the morning, that'll wake me up, too

But I'm giving it a shot -- I do want to be awake more during the day anyway, and I am very happy that Oz has her appetite back. We'll see how it turns out and if I can acclimate to all of this without ending up miserable. There's only so far you can push your circadian rhythms, but 9:00 AM shouldn't be outside of mine, or at least not that far outside of them.

All this to say I'm a little groggy today. It's gloomy outside, which isn't helping

 
I'm looking at skins to put on the steamdeck when it arrives -- I won't be able to actually order them until next month, but I can think about what I want in the meantime. Thinking about one of these three:

 
Probably the third, but we'll see how I feel in a month. I also was considering designing one myself, maybe based on this image

 
Aligning it so the birds are on the back and the flowers on the front looked pretty nice, maybe with some colour editing

We'll see! I never skinned my electronics before the switch, but the skin I got for it makes me so happy to look at while I'm playing, so I want to do it again for this one
