Not me getting stuck on this screen because my storyverse world doesn't actually have a name?? Like it's not a universe that would be aware of other planets enough to have a planet name

name it butthole
ETA: Sorry if this joke is badly timed!
No it's a new day and buttholes are valid again

Speaking of buttholes I did check WorldAnvil out and my preliminary thoughts are that it seems like a super great tool but one that is slightly more community-focused or group project focused. You don't have to include other people in what you're doing, but it's deffo designed with the idea that you will.
It has a lot of community stuff baked in:

Which is great, but not really my jam! Obviously you do not have to engage with those things, but the presence of them makes me feel slightly more perceived than I want to be. Seems like a really awesome tool, though, especially for someone wanting to engage with other creators. I did like the basic organization of how you input different data:

and it's all customizable, unlike the other one I tried.
I would absolutely use this in lieu of a shared Google Drive or Google Doc, etc., for any future projects I did where there was a shared world, or for a D&D campaign or something. Would've been great for Snowtown stuff back in the day!

I think the tl;dr of my research is that I'm going to start using Scrivener for notes/plotting/etc and otherwise engage Microsoft Word + thumb drive as my writing strategy. Who knows, maybe I'll find it easier to write at work since I'll be writing on the main monitor and not my tiny tablet? No one sits behind me so I don't have to worry about someone reading over my shoulder, which is nice.

Having Speak with Animals on at all times (ritual spell for nature domain clerics, holla) is truly a blessing

Also Sevaufein is a fucking dork and got a point of inspiration from that interaction

I am converting stuff over to Scrivener (it feels like the right choice tbh, I am already liking the organized look of it and not having so many individual files) and can I just say as someone who has spun blorbos since I was old enough to comprehend make-believe, I have honed the information needed in a basic character profile down to this:
Screenshot 2024-04-06 115854.png
That covers basically everything in the broadest sense and is all I use anymore to keep track of character data; anything more detailed I get bored of filling out or find fussy. That's a preference thing, obviously, and sometimes I do like to wax more detailed with character questionnaires or memes (although I usually get tired of those halfway through, as well), but like ... who are they, what's their deal, wham bam you're done
