And we're back to pending
I do at this point fully expect there to be an issue with it that will necessitate sending it back
It arrived! I downloaded updates, got it to connect to the wifi, set a game to download - everything seems to be in working order, touch wood
Today ash and I went to the minigolf/arcade place, where we played minigolf and then spent some time in the arcade! He beat me by I think six strokes in minigolf, but I got our only hole-in-one; collectively we got enough points to win him the prize he wanted in the arcade, and I feel like a good boyfriend about that. We also had a little left over, so I got a bendy sloth and stuck it in his car
I have run into a small handful of glitches, bugs, and bad design decisions with the steamdeck, which is annoying, but aside from that it's been working great and I've been having fun with it! I tried out a few games last night before bed, and today I have been trying it hooked up to the TV instead of as a handheld. Setting that up went incredibly easy and I'm very happy with the results, this will be perfect to replace my old PC in here as a gaming-thing.
So I am now just chilling before going out and being social again. Later I want to do more fun with dice, I am currently planning on going to church tomorrow morning but I want to mull it over some more before I fully commit myself to it
I have decided to skip returning to church this week and see how I feel about it next week
I have successfully set up the computer in the guest room, cleaned off the top of my dresser (where the TV and, ideally, the consoles, live), and set up the deck's dock! I'm proud of how it all turned out, I put extra effort into getting the cables organised sensibly
I am somewhat meticulous about cable arrangement -- not anal about it, but I always take the time when setting something up the first time to make sure that everything plugs in in a way that makes sense and won't get tangled with anything else. In communal spaces my efforts always get undone by someone else who cares less about all this, but in my own personal spaces I get to be proud of my work and revel in the fact that I don't have to keep fighting cables all the time
Anyway! All that is enough productivity for right now, though I still need to write up the household chore list for the week, and later I should take a shower. For right now I'm going to sit for a bit and eat a lunch
Today! I! Woke up to the cat peeing on the bed again. Sigh.
I did my usual eating breakfast while listening to a podcast, and when I was done I went outside and walked around the pool for ten minutes while still listening to the podcast. I also picked some cherries -- I got five ripe ones today, which I'm pleased about! I don't particularly need All the cherries, so I'm happy to just get a few a day, or about there. Birds are welcome to all the ones I can't reach anyway, which are the vast majority of them
When I came back inside, I threw the peed-upon blankets into the wash, and then set up in the guest room to try to do some productivity for an hour. My plan here is to spend a shortish, fixed amount of time in there every day, and gradually increase it over time, both to let the animals acclimate to the idea of my being in there, and myself to the routine of it. So for that I read some of my research I've had open in tabs for yonks, and then spent most of the hour doing some video editing. Sloooowly chipping my way through game footage -- the next Apothecary Games video should be up in, oh, five years, at this rate.
Once the hour was up I shut everything down and set the laundry onto a spin cycle to hopefully wring some more of the water out. I'm now going to eat lunch, watch youtube, and then play video games for a while.
I do want to be proactive and put some effort toward preventing cats from chewing on wires, now that the computer is set up and becabled. I will do that when I finish eating, I think
So, reasonably productive morning, and it's only two-twenty! The novelty aspect of the whole thing will wear off soon, but hopefully the routine of it will set in before then, and I won't fall back into old habits.
I pre-ordered the Severance soundtrack a couple months ago, and it arrived yesterday! So this morning I listened to half of it while I did getting-up things. It's a good soundtrack, I really like it, except that it makes me want the next season to come out already and they're still filming it. Ugh.
So - breakfast and podcast, walk around the pool for ten minutes, pick some cherries off the tree. It's pretty much confirmed now that the lack of cherries last year was due to neglect on the part of the previous tenants, I think -- there are plenty that aren't getting eaten by animals. So I snacked on a few of those while I set up in the office for more productivity
Same as yesterday, a little research and then some video editing. I did also clip this part of the video and upload it:
Look forward to finding out the context when I'm done going through six hours of footage
Today Oz came into the office with me for a little bit and hung out, which was nice, I hope she makes a habit of it.
At 12:40-ish I started setting up for an Arcadia recording, but also at around that time it turned out that it needs to be rescheduled, so instead I retired to my room for chillaxing. Mic and everything are in there, now, though, so I can get some of what's due done then
But! Chillaxing, and also lunch. We'll see where the day takes me after that
